I've said it in a different thread but: Lucas is a good player against competition like this. He's direct and he shoots with (sometimes undeserved) confidence. He gets results because of it. He's not good enough against the top clubs but has this in his skillset.

Stevie isn't good enough against the top clubs AND doesn't seem to have to right skill set to succeed against lower competition. I had such high hopes for him.
I've been scratching my head on Bergwijn for ages offers very little, been dining out on a debut goal against City what feels like aeons ago.

Dele on his worst day is far more effective

Also, not sure why CV is always so miserable when he scores, if he thinks he's going to get games ahead of Kane he is delusional.

Surely he knew he was signed as a backup?
I don't think it's that. Before scoring the goal he was looking more and more annoyed every time a teammate didn't cross/pass the ball to him, when he was in a good position in the penalty box. I don't think the team as a whole trust him, I guess (?).

Anyway, logging off now, wish us (Benfica) luck 🙂 Keep your expectations low though, we're fucking rubbish this season

Only downside tonight was sisokko and bergwijn for me. Best game in a spurs shirt this season for bale and doherty dele did well and thought Son scored and we defended excellently overall. Vinny should really have had more minutes than he's had thought it was right to rest Son at half time.

Not sure why Bergwijn is taking heat today. Lamela just started stepping up over the last couple of games, and Lucas runs around like a headless chicken and can't pass worth anything.

They were asking the other day on the pod if people would prefer a top four place, or winning Europa League and finishing in 8th. I'd absolutely take the later.

I'm thinking that is incredibly long odds, but I'd take it in a second.
Winning the EL (and finishing 8th) gets us into the CL... and we'd 'only' need to win 4-6 more games to achieve it. (allowing for away draws/defeats in 2 legged games!)

Finishing 4th (and not winning a trophy) also gets us into the CL ... but we'd need to win another 10-12 games to do that.

Don't tell me Jose hasn't done the maths!

Professional job done. 💪

Be very interested to see what team Jose selects at the weekend now. A few players laid a claim for a starting spot today.
