So we could have 22 players over 21yo, and then add Skipp, Sessegnon, Scarlett to make it 25.

Do you think a team with Skipp, Scarlett and Sessegnon would compete for top 4? They need another 3 to 4 seasons before they become top top players.

We have a number of 1st choice older outgoing players who won't be with us in 2 or 3 seasons time. Sissoko, Aurier, Kane, Son, Lamela, Moura, Lloris, alderweirald, Dier, Davies. That group of players had their prime and failed in spectacular fashion.

The painful rebuild is in progress. We have a great core of young players and must suffer a couple of seasons outside top 4 so we can allow them to develop.

Going through our squad in along with the homegrown rule and I see a few issues. You need a minimum of 8 players homegrown and some of the players we think are likely to leave or we don't want here are on that list. Hart, Winks, Bale, Kane, Alli, Whiteman, Davies, Rodon

Of that list you imagine the goalkeepers will remain unchanged, 2 places. Kane, Davies and Rodon will be here, 3 places.

Bale probably gone
Winks probably gone
Alli probably gone

Sessengon and Skipp are currently 20 so not sure if they can fill these spots should they come back next season.

What I'm getting at is I wouldnt be surprised to see us buy an English player this summer to fill the quota.

Realistically, a squad won't get rid off all the players we want to see gone in one window unfortunately but we need to get the homegrown list sorted out before we even look elsewhere otherwise Winks is going nowhere, for example.
You can have but don't need to have 8 HG. In fact you can have all 25 be HG.

People need to stop focusing on the HG quota but on the more important foreign player limit of 17.

Why would signing Ward-Prowse, which I never really suggested we should do, mean we would be on the end of some heavy beatings? 😆
Right so this is the last time I'm going to respond to you directly as you seem a bit intellectually wanting. No I never suggested X would lead to Y. I said if you overlook them it would change my meaning. Having explained hyperbole you now require an explanation of sarcasm. It makes you not much fun to banter with. Prehaps another hobby? Just a suggestion mind, feel free to do as you wish....Oh and to save time

Hobby:
an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
"her hobbies are reading and gardening"

Suggestion:

an idea or plan put forward for consideration.
"here are some suggestions for tackling the problem"

Bamba?

On FIFA? Excellent.

As for real life:

What is likely price for Dybala? Would he be worth it?

Honestly, I would prefer that Dybala remains to Juventus, however, there are issues to be solved: 1) Contract: it wants renewal with astronomical figures in a year when it has always been stopped for injury + Covid 2) physical recovery. I believe I should take a step back as the figures of football without fans are minor of how it was at the highest point of the bubble. To date it is a great promise that must make the last step. If Juventus sold it today would be for a relatively low price.

I don't think HG is a problem even if we sell Davies, Doherty, Alli, Winks.

The PL & EL squad max limit is 25, and if we breach HG rules by a few players we'll have a max of 22-23. But then there are unlimited U21s allowed in both competitions.
So we could have 22 players over 21yo, and then add Skipp, Sessegnon, Scarlett to make it 25.

Davies and Doherty are NOT HG for UEFA purposes.

Next season (without taking account of summer incomings or outgoings) are :

Club Trained - Kane, Winks, Tanganga, Whiteman (3rd GK) plus possibly Bale

Association trained - Hart plus possibly Dele.

u21 players - Skipp, Sessegnon (Scarlett and Devine will make appearances but probably not be starters - just too young).

So we need to ensure we have not more than 17 QUALITY overseas trained players to start with.

And with Lloris and Aurier having one year left on their contract plus players who we need to move on Sissoko (age, not very good), Aurier (one match away from a conceding more goals), Lamela (injured for 2 matches out of 3 so cannot be relied upon), Doherty (just hasn't found same form he had at Wolves), - so five who might need to move on (Lloris will stay if he signs a new contract so it might only be four ), and what happens with Vinicius (buy or loan or replace to have a back up striker ).

So that's a minimum of 5 players to sort out, before considering those we might want to upgrade on - whether overseas trained or not. And players who may wish to leave (rumoured Dele and Winks).

And that still leaves the likes of Dier and Davies who some posters want to be on the out list

But even if we can sort out 17 decent overseas trained players (a major job by itself) if we sell Dele and Winks we have Kane, Tanganga, Hart, Skipp and Sessegnon to make a 22 man squad.

IMO that is just too tight, so any opportunity to buy a QUALITY HG player or two to the squad makes absolute sense - and we need to lose an overseas trained player anyway to get Rodon into a UEFA squad..

Dybala was a starter last season when he was fit.
What does last season have to do with this season? Last season we started Dele and this season he can't get into the team. Neither are starters now and for a reason...and it's not injury.

Konate was a starter before injury and was considered the better of Upamecano. Then he got injured, new coach, injury and now he's not a starter.

But my point was the inconsistent reasoning in jumping in on Dybala, a player that will not be successful in the PL unless a team is built around him and for which his ability doesn't justify...and even then the game will be too fast and physical for him, but poo-pooing Konate under similar circumstances.

I agree that both players are slightly risky due to injury concerns.
You're not agreeing with me because I have said nothing about injury concerns. I just think Dybala is an anachronistic player that FIFA fanbois want but have no idea of what he is as a player. And thus I do not want him here. It will be the stupid Bale transfer all over. Daniel goes for a name to appease the masses...morons hit twitter to go on the banter...the team suffers because the player is overrated or unable to do the job required. More evidence that the club is rotten with no direction from the supposed leadership...and longer term mediocrity ensues.

We can easily have a 25 man squad for the Europa.
And that's even if we let go of club/association trained players such as Winks, Alli, Bale, Doherty.

25 man squad as follows:

Foreign players: 16 (Limit is 17)
Maignon, Emerson Royal, Menino, Alderweireld, Botman, Andersen, Rodon, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sabitzer, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Lucas, Son, Bergwijn, Daka

Association players: 3 (Limit: Foreign + Association= 21, so 5 in this case)
Hart, Whiteman, Olise

Club trained players: 2 (Limit is 25)-
Kane, Tanganga

U21: 4 (Unlimited)
Sessegnon, Skipp, Scarlett, Devine

Even if we let go of club/association trained players such as Winks, Alli, Bale, Doherty; we can make up for it by selling foreign deadweights such as Sissoko, Davies, Dier, Sanchez, Aurier.

25 man squad as follows:

Foreign players (16)-
Maignon, Emerson Royal, Alderweireld, Botman, Andersen, Rodon, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sabitzer, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Lucas, Lamela, Son, Bergwijn, Daka

Association players (3)-
Hart, Whiteman, Olise

Club trained players (2)-
Kane, Tanganga

U21 (4)-
Sessegnon, Skipp, Scarlett, Devine
U21 don't count towards the 25 man squad limit
