Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

West Ham are shite but they've done good business/got lucky in the TW recently.

Coufal is better than all our RBs.
Issa Diop is better than all our CBs bar Toby probably. Dawson has come in and been steady, I'd take him over Dier/Sanchez, at least he's not a bomb waiting to go off.
Rice is one of the best DMs in the league. Soucek has been a revelation.
Cresswell is a solid LB.
They took a punt on Lingaard and it's paid off big time.

The centre backs are given great protection by Soucek and Rice and it has created a solid base.

Coufal, Soucek, Dawson and Lingaard are all recent signings.

We looked fine defensively for long periods when we had Sissoko and Hojberg protecting our shit defenders but we have moved away from that and are seeing the results.

West Ham this season are just another example of what a good transfer window can do for a team.

The one lesson he should learn is that we should only hire attacking managers. Our successes have been Jol, Redknapp and Poch compared to the likes of AVB, Jose, Santini and Graham. As a club and a fan base defensive managers don’t work with Spurs.

And when he has a good manager he should back him. Crazy that we backed Jose so well and didn’t with Poch or Redknapp.
How much was Sanchez.
We spent 100m the summer before Poch went. He wanted all 3.

Don’t care if we get top 4 or win Carabao cup. I am thoroughly fed up with him and he has to go.
No pleasure in watching this team anymore. We are wasting Kane and Son.
The fact that we still have a reasonable chance of top 4 shows what a poor standard this league has been ,City excepted of course.

Lot of Itk on SC that he will not be here next season. May go sooner rather than later.
Make of that what you will.
Both Chelsea and Man U went on long unbeaten runs as soon as he left their clubs.
Don’t normally slag off Levy but this is all on his head.

Yep, sounds as if he is gone, even in very unlikely event we get CL and win Carabao.

And one even says Mourinho has already been told he will not be here next season, so that will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Putting the champagne on ice

Yes and Ndombele and Lo Celso where basically injured/unfit and that 100m was not net, we sold players to get funds.

Jose got Regulion, PEH, Rodon, Doherty, Vinnie, Bale, Hart on top plus finally a fit Ndombele .
You can't call a "finally fit" Ndombele backing of Jose by Levy, that's a reach. He was Poch's player and he started well under him before the training broke him and set him back a year.

Lo Celso was Poch's player too. Granted he was injured but this was still backing Poch.

The 7 you mentioned come to roughly 75m in transfer fees, versus the circa 110m spent on Ndombele and GLC.

We might not have the status to win regularly, but we are big enough to win something once every 5-10yrs
unfortunate fact, we are not. We might be big enough, but something else is missing.... belief, swagger, unity, intense focus, skill (?!!?)... likely its the managers job to recruit, nuture, harness, magnify all those at the perfect time...

Yes but that backing was far too late. The squad needed a refresh, Lo Celso and Ndombele should have come in the season before they did. We paid for not signing anyone of note for 18 whole months.

Most fans were more than happy for the last window, we need Full backs, DM, Striker and we even got Bale on top. Only thing we didn’t get was a top CB and got a young Rodon instead. That’s more backing than I have seen a manager get at this club.

Although WH escaped relegation last season and Moyes survived? Perhaps the same will happen if we stick with Jose?

I don’t personally think we should, my mind’s still not (quite) made up, but we can’t use the example of Moyes / Potter / Negelsmann / Hassenhutl etc without the full picture. Probably Rodgers has been the most consistent in and around where we are as a club - the rest are a punt; likewise, Moyes has generally been quietly adequate but nothing to write home about: WH’s form has surprised everyone (as has ours, sadly).

They’ve played about half the amount of games we have this season and been able to pick their first xi more often than not. We aren’t really comparable.

I saw that but I can’t see him being sacked before the end of the season or when we don’t get top four. There’s nobody to come in and replace him. Who’s going to take charge, ledders?

You're off your fucking head if you think Mourinho would have that West Ham team anywhere near top 4. The reason they are there is because Moyes has them playing his way and it's been effective.

Our problem is not our squad, it's our manager. It's clear as daylight and all this time we spend pissing all over our players and saying they're worse than all these other shite teams is pointless. Any competent manager would have had us top 4 this season, we have easily enough player resources for it.

In your opinion of course

I was just making the comment that you could have both at the beginning so you admit to having an agenda then of wanting Jose out the minute he started?
No. I didn't want him in. This opinion was formed on how his teams played and what he had recently been doing at Chavs and Utd. I gave these reasons in significant detail over a number of posts.

He has done nothing to change my mind, so my opinion is the same today as it was nearly two years ago (as it was consistent throughout his time). Had he got us playing nice football, or at the minimum shown some green shoots of something emerging as signs of progress I'd have been onboard. Had he got us competing at the top of the league and in Europe then I'd have been on board, this is all I want from my Tottenham manager. (To be specific all I want is a manager that plays decent progressive and relevant football, I'm of the opinion that if this is nailed you're not far off from winning trophies which is the reward, not the expectation).

I don't rely on blind faith to form my opinions, I apply judgement.

If we didn't bring in someone from outside for short term, I would think Chris Powell with Mason and King assisting.

I think will happen before end of season, give Jose enough rope, he will hang himself

I had a read a while back of Red Cafe. Jose had them thinking their squad was a pile of shit. Feels like gaslighting of the fan base. We obviously need a few better defenders but on paper we have one of the best attacking units in the whole league.

On days like today I choose to buy fully into the SpursCommunity itk murmurings. Not looking good for Jose according to some unverified internet poster.

It really sticks in the craw because of how much Poch changed the Club. I get the option of him being sacked (I don't necessarily agree with it, not without the real facts) but he showed what can be achieved both on and off the pitch, why oh why didn't we just get in another guy that could build on his work?

The Chavs have been trying to move away from the dull football that they played under Mourinho for years, it was one of the reasons why they fired him 1st time around and brought in AVB (looool), but it's why they hired Sarri and then Lampard and now Tuchel. Tuchel's job is made all the easier because of both Sarri and Lampard, both of these managers started to work with the team in attempting to have them play more progressively.

I do worry what the team looks like when Jose fucks off, is he going to be given another window to buy more 28yr olds? Will he have coached all the technical ability out of our players required to keep the ball and pass it between each other? How long will it take to rectify and rebalance?
If you're asking why, I think it’s because too many people associated with our club (hierarchy and fans) became influenced by the low whit “trophies” put downs of the media and rival fans.

As opposed to enjoying every minute of the ride Poch gave us, they fell into this stupid trap and became obsessed with winning a fucking league cup instead of continuing to develop our club.

In their minds, there was no one better placed than Jose to deliver that trophy.

I think on top of realising Jose is a busted flush, a lot of fans have now realised that as much as winning trophies is important, it isn’t worth sacrificing your enjoyment as a fan and the soul of your club for.
