Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Time will tell I suppose. I’m utterly convinced we’ll end up with Smith from Villa or Potter from Brighton. Decent enough guys, who may have it in them to make that huge step up they’d need to.

They would be fine. We need a manager with hunger just like we need that type of player.

Bringing a big name to Tottenham is never going to work because of our financial situation, when the pandemic is over and our debts are under control we can then thinking about throwing big money around. What we need now is another Poch, someone ready for a step up but who is willing to strengthen the team mainly through work on the training pitch rather than massive spending.

That’s fair. And that is what we’ll get, so we all need to set our expectations accordingly. This would mean still seeing Winks in midfield, Dier at the back. New guy comes in and works with the tools he has.

What I hope happens instead is we chuck £100m at Jose for a couple of centre backs and see what we can do in a buyers market.

I’m not sure he can turn it around, but I’m sure he’s got as much, if not more, of a chance than Potter or Parker has.

As for his last three jobs? A couple of trophies at each of them. Not that bad.
He left Chelsea in the bottom 3. He alienated top players at Man United and had the fans believing Shaw, Pogba and others were not good enough, and left United mid table with the fans screaming attack having spent a fucking fortune. Fucking terribly bad.

Potter and Parker, why are we forced to go for managers in the bottom 5 all of a sudden? You seem very clearly pro Mourinho

Ndombele, Gio and Hojbjerg will still be here. Sabitzer I think we will try and sign no matter who is the manager. Skipp will be back. There will be changes to some of the old guard no matter who is in charge, Winks is not suddenly going to displace anyone.

I think Dier will be gone this summer he has always made too many mistakes it was just when he was in midfield they were normally higher up the pitch. The fact is you want your team to make any mistakes as far from your goal as possible then it is less likely to lead to conceding people blame midfielders less for misplacing passes than when defenders do the same thing.

I swear you need an abusive relationship intervention or some shit.

He has been given over £100m already and we have gone massively backwards, so you want to see him get another £100m and see what he can do?

He alienates, is negative and critical of players and blames everyone but himself. He has a toxic personality and this is demonstrated at his last 3 clubs Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Football has moved on and I don't believe any amount of money can make him the 2003 Mourinho again. It's just not possible. We are his last job in England and it is going to be an acrimonious, messy ending.

If we have £100m the first £30m should be on paying this guy to leave. You really are out your tree if you think Mourinho is still the answer. He is finished.

They were bottom four. Granted, hardly a screaming endorsement, just a fact.

Like almost every manager that loses his job, or leaves, he left the sides in a shit state. The likes of Ferguson leaving ManU on a high are the outliers to the usual trend of “manager becomes shite, so gets the sack with the side not doing well”.

As for Potter and Parker, I just feel that’s the level our next manager will come from if we act now. I’ve not got Levy’s ear here, so just a feeling. I’m probably the most pro Mourinho actual Spurs fan on here and I have to admit the air is thin this far out of step with everyone else. Sating that, I’m less pro Mourinho and more anti rinse and repeat in the managerial Merry go round that we’ve been on for decades.

Reports say he wanted to buy club, but 2 things turned him off.

1, Levy was only willing to sell 29.9% of club, Abramovich wanted full control
2. Abramovich claimed Tottenham High Road was worse than Omsk (apparently a sesspit of a town in Siberia where he has a refinery)

He then went to meet Ken Bates, and rest is history
Both very plausible. Especially the second thing. Just has a whiff of the story that went round about the helicopter journey taking him past Chelsea on his way to our place.

Anyway, didn’t happen and I’m quite glad it didn’t.

Here's how I see it.

Are Spurs going to improve under Mourinho?
No.

Therefore he should not be here anymore. I get they may keep him for the league final with his experience in finals but in reality can he set us up to beat City? Of course not. We will need an extreme amount of luck or players to play out of their skins.

The longer Levy waits the worse this gets. There is no way he can improve the club so he should not remain.

Or I could just have an opinion that doesn’t match yours? I’m not telling you that you are out of your tree, or need some kind of intervention. I’m perfectly in control of all my faculties. I just don’t feel the need to change my opinion because I’m being shouted at and disagreed with on a forum.

I’ve supported Spurs for 40 of my 48 years and want nothing more than success for the club. I assume you are similar in that? We just have different ideas how to achieve that. No huge deal man.

Just rewatched us thrash Real Madrid.

Sissoko, Sanchez, Alli, Winks, Dier, Davies were all excellent.

It's not the players. It's the coach. Not only has he destroyed the dressing room, he devalued some. Of our prize assets by 10s of millions.

Quite how Levy and the club allowed this fraud to continue is beyond me.

As a club, we cannot allow Mourinho to be in charge for the league Cup final. If he wins it, all the damage he has done will be overlooked.

There needs to be a clear message from the fans that he isn't wanted.
Spot on.

I go back to how good Wimmer looked for us playing in a well coached team. No side is perfect, City won the league with Delph at LB. If that was Jose it would have been an excuse for coming 8th.

One thing I thought was interesting yesterday was his way too late sub of Bale. Jose absolutely rips players confidence (Dele, Dier, Toby, Aurier, Bale, Vinicius, Bergwijn all at different points)....then relies on them to change the game.

He hasn’t just lost his coaching magic, he’s lost any sense of logic too.

We haven't been that bad for years actually. Poch was the longest or second longest serving Prem manager. Redknapp was here for several years too. The Fergusons and Wengers won't happen in this era unless they can guarantee success. Only Guardiola can do that as he is a progressive coach with an oil rich nation state backing him up.

Your brave for stepping out but it really is baseless at this point. To be pro Mourinho now you have to blame the players and I refuse to believe they are all now shit based on this Portuguese charlatans say so. He is no longer the special one, he is the shit one.

AY, I think the issue is it really cannot get worse than this right now.....

Why you don’t see guaranteed upside in changing manager, it’s hard for me to see any potential downside.

He’s done.....

Ah well, there’s the rub, as I do blame the players.

Either they are crap at the basics, or they aren’t listening to the guy they are paid handsomely to listen to. Even if or when Jose goes, I want to see the vast majority of players follow him quickly.

I agree that we won’t see the likes of Ferguson or Wenger again. Doubt we’ll see several years out of any manager again. In my time, I’ve seen around 20 managers, fair that Poch had five years, Harry four I think. Again though 2 from 20. And neither won us shiny things.

You see how Chelsea fans treated Benitez and Villa fans treated McLeish? We need some of that.
