If Conte falls out with Levy, it means the club are not being ambitious. Levy must know what he's signing up for, and I think it's great to have a manager that is really going to challenge the board.

And if it does end in him leaving because the club can't push on in the way he wants, I'd honestly rather that than Poch/Mourinho's approach of saying cryptic/odd things in interviews whilst becoming increasingly disillusioned and it creating a negative atmosphere.
It does not necessarily mean the club are not being ambitious. Spurs fans are guilty of very binary views on who is responsible and like to use Levy as a whipping boy, but if Conte rocks up, demands 100 million in transfers this summer, and then gets angry because we won't do them, then it's on Conte. Spurs are not run on a loss making basis, and so will not spend like that. Almost no club in Europe is in that position this summer, unless they are not run as a business.

That’s what we have to do when clients are trying to kill us, it’s a beautiful life!

I think that depends. If Levy has been honest and says, 'you're going to need to make a silk purse out of this cow's ear of a squad', then Conte goes mental when he doesn't get new toys, then I agree with you.

Personally, I believe Levy will be selling him the 'massive investment coming, we're in a great financial position already and I will back you' dream in which case it will be all on him when it blows up in his face.

Pretty much. If you look at some of the stuff written on the situation in France for example, it becomes pretty clear that the situation is a lot worse than fans generally realize. Inter is not alone in their need to sell to balance the books; most just are facing that because they've had virtually no revenue for 15 months, rather than because they spent like idiots.

I think that if Levy tries selling that, and Conte believes it without checking what the previous situation at Spurs has been like, then both are utter idiots who deserve their misery. But we as fans do not.

I don't think that's the case though. I think the idea that Conte is currently arguing over the specific commitments makes a fair bit of sense, and is the kind of clarity both he and the club will need.

He's an intelligent Conte :mourthumb:

Conte and Paratici securing the authority and the funding they need to implement their project is great news and is not going to just happen overnight.

It will also take the kind of patience and forbearance Levy has never previously shown in order to stick over the long term, but let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.
