Rangnick would also be my go to guy right now, and not as a coach but DoF, since there isn’t a lot to salvage from this squad, and Conte would face some of the same issues as Mourinho

The speech is complex. Juventus as a roster of players is of an excellent level: it is one of the teams with the most called up between the European Championships and the America's Cup, certainly an index. Conte was exceptional in building the winning team in the first step when it was important to have conviction, to build trust in the group. Then Allegri continued his work improving it in the aspects where Conte was lacking: diplomacy, the ability to mediate. Cristiano Ronaldo was a passage in my opinion "megalomaniac": great champion but unable to get into the group. In my opinion Juventus with Allegri will return to their usual levels.

Been a supporter for 38 years, so yeah, relatively early in my Spurs fandom. 😁

I do think you are applying past history to present circumstances, even though these are completely different times. Think of it this way: you just started out your professional career and making enough for a studio and some IKEA furniture. You really want a nice 2-bedroom overlooking the Thames and a nice sports car. One little problem: not enough money. Fast forward 20 years and you are now a VP at a major firm and bringing in a six-figure salary. You've also been prudent with your money and have a nice sum stashed away and know you will continue to earn that six-figure salary which will only increase year over year. Well, you darn well are going to get that 2-bedroom using some of the money you stashed away as a down payment, and the fancy sports car now.

Levy has gotten us to where we just bought the 2-bedroom (new stadium), are earning that six-figure salary, and have the money to get that sports car. To suggest he is behaving the same way he did 5-10-15 years ago is foolish to say the least.

But if you really think he is, please do tell us exactly what is going on in the negotiations with Conte that is leading you to believe this. Not what the papers are reporting. I'd like to know what Conte said to Levy, what Levy said to Conte, you know what is really happening, not what bullshit every yokel with a Twitter account is saying.

I guess my point is you can have effective scouting and recruitment and play exciting football even with a big budget. In fact, it probably makes it easier.

Obviously being a well run club like Dortmund would be great but let's not act like they are penny pinching over there. Their gross transfer spend over the past 3 years is actually more than Bayern's (their net spend is a bit less though because they sell well).

Like I said, I'd be fine with that model but I think we undersell how much harder it is to be competitive with that model in the EPL. When you have a league like in Germany where there is just one dominant team, it can be easier to get results doing something different when you're the main alternative. We have to ask if a similar model would work when you are facing not 1 Goliath, but at least 3 (City, United, Chelsea).

I'm not saying it wouldn't work and if that's the route we went, I'd be happy. I'm just playing devils advocate a bit since we are the 10th biggest club in the world by revenue and maybe if we started acting more like that, then we'd have more success to show for it.

He hasn't said there are problems, doubts, lack or ambition, just that it's ongoing.

Exactly, our owners stick to their budget, whatever the size is each summer. We are not going to spend what we don't have. A manager like Conte will never be happy with that, if he has a budget of 50 mill he will want 100 mill, if Levy gives him 100 mill he will want 150 mill. Also he doesn't care much about young players, the academy etc. He has a different philosophy to a Ten Hag/Rangnick combo. It seems Levy is going down the Chelsea route of employing big names and if they don't work out just sacking them and moving onto the next one.

He's not just going to want more for the sake of wanting more. That's just silly and only my Mrs does that.
He's going to want enough to get what he wants. If that's more than the kitty then fine, but if he got offered 100m to spend and got what he wanted for that, he's not then going to ask for another 50m, and another.

Fair enough, I'm hardly claiming to be ITK here though am I? Just been through this cycle every year for 20 years, and I stated this approach doesn't mean our interest isn't real, but if you want to keep midnlessly jumping on the renewal hype train then be my guest sir/madam, you may have my seat.

Exactly. The ST waiting list may appear to be over 75K, but that is exactly the number of OH+ members, who are automatically added to the “waiting list” when they join, and most of those will have been offered a ST at some time since the Wembley days and declined the offer. Yes there will be some who have changed their minds, but probably not enough to mop up the remaining 1882 and top price tickets. There will be no mad scramble.
 
if (and it's a big IF), we are to believe Conte wants to bring 7 new staff with him, we need to consider how we treat those staff that will be displaced. This Likely includes:

Ledley
Metcalf
Geoff Scott

People who have been in and around the club/squad for years. It's shit if you just call them in and say "get out". So I imagine roles and responsibilities take a fair bit of discussion. Not nice for some of them involved.
