Sky Sports already showing the interview where he wore a Zorro mask.

Banter club and yet some on here are defending the appointment.

Are they Spurs fans or Levy fans?

It's a disaster. No point hoping he'll succeed as it's doomed to fail from the get go.
It really does feel like Gross's tube ticket or Santini floundering out of his depth. Some managers can suit certain clubs but i just dont see this working at all. Add in an angry fanbase and some iffy early season results, maybe no Kane.....oh dear.

If appointed, things could go tits up very quickly. He doesn't know the players. They don't know him. He's not worked in England. Who will he bring with him? Will the club personnel warm to him? Will he have time to even get to know enough before the season kicks off? His first few games are going to be crucial. It's all on a very insecure knife-edge.

...that's if this rumour is true!

As I said, I have NEVER called for a DoF because fanatics like you will just use it to deflect from Levy and ENIC'S failings. As you're already doing.

I want Levy OUT. you should know my stance by now.

Just as I know yours.
You absolutely do not know my stance John because I've not given one.

So you aren't bothered who is responsible for hiring our next manager?

So, please lay off with the "fanatics" bullshit, you confirmed 100% what I was questioning, which was people wanted a DoF so Levy doesn't make the football decisions, this isn't deflection, it's fact confirmed by yourself not 2 posts ago why I asked it directly to you.

What I don't understand is why people are raging at this potential appointment, someone who they know fuck all about (I know fuck all about him) but would rather take a guy that got beat by him who had a superior squad and a settled Club (not having DoF fired and new owners) or want Potter because he's got great xG but not as good an xG as the guy they are raging about!?

Seems and really flawed logic to rage about.
LOL so because they beat Ajax he’s a better candidate than ETH, Jose also beat pep this year take it you’d have him back over pep then.Ten hag took over an Ajax side who hadn’t won the league in 3 or 4 years and won them back to back titles and took them to the semi final of the champions league, where they hadn’t made it out the group stage since 05, all whilst playing good football.

Fonseca, sacked by Porto where they were sitting 3rd in the Portuguese league and now sacked by Roma after coming 7th. after talks of Conte, Poch and ten hag, it’s not hard to understand why fans are rightly not pleased with this guy. Also as it looks he’s only coming because he can work on a budget and is available without compensation .

All I'm challenging is the why?
Well for me, if you look at the club right now we need a direction. I have my preference on what that should be but there are 2 obvious strategies....

1) Big name appointment and another run at top 4 with the core of this squad (plus additions), keeping Harry for another year.

I don’t think any one of us think Fonseca is the man to produce immediate results like potentially Conte could have done, so he doesn’t fit the bill here.

2) A semi rebuild, selling Kane and looking for long term progress through in-club and newly acquired youth players. I guess a rehashed version of what Poch did.

This seems more applicable for Fonseca until you realise he’s been a pretty short team appointment for every club he’s been at.

This appointment stinks of 6th place purgatory to me. I’m happy to go backwards to go forwards personally, but I just fail to see how he fits in with any definable direction the club want to go in.

Add in the extra challenge of managing in a different and very demanding league, and I’ve got a lot of alarm bells going off right now.

Hope that explains it. 👍

Can i ask on what basis do you think it wont work? Not been smart but most peoples opposition to him seems to be that its levys appointment and not a big enough name. Im not saying hes gonna be a superstar but hes won trophies, managed in diff countries, seems to play attacking football,. We finished 7th. A huge name never seemed likely and weve no basis to expect one. Doesnt excuse levy been a bell end and not having a clue on football matters. Id be willing to give fonseca a chance but that could change by christmas

In fairness all of the above could apply to any manager

Fact is expectations have been raised by our absurd managerial search. We have a dissalusioned, angry fanbase (Villa game just for starters). It needed something to unite the fans and i'm not sure the guy that finished 7th and got spannered by Man U is the man to do that. I think it could unravel very quickly. We have no choice but to back him and hope most of us are wrong on this but i'm 100% certain Levy and ENIC have to go.
