What I don't understand is why people are raging at this potential appointment, someone who they know fuck all about (I know fuck all about him) but would rather take a guy that got beat by him who had a superior squad and a settled Club (not having DoF fired and new owners) or want Potter because he's got great xG but not as good an xG as the guy they are raging about!?

I don’t rate Potter because of XG. I rate him because he has average players playing Pep style football that is good on the eye, breaking down the opposition while keeping a solid defence, it’s very impressive.

the underlying sat of xG, especially applied across multiple games, in this case, an entire season backs up what you and I and others have seen from Potters Brighton.

And how many games have you watched of Roma, who have the underlying stat of xG way, way, way better than Potter's Brighton. This is all I'm asking. I've not watched a single game played by Roma in Seria A this year - I'm not making a claim for him as I know nothing about him, I'm just trying to understand the logic to saying fuck off to him but readily accept Potter.

That’s Apples and oranges and you know it. Brighton are a small team, success for them is remaining in the Prem, Roma are hardly a small club. this season Brighton have outplayed Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool and I watched those games, they looked strong in attack and defence but their strikers often fucked up.

Potter wasn’t my first choice but I was quite excited for him to impose his vision with a higher standard of players we could offer him. This appointment feels more like a Martinez, we might attack but our defence will be a shambles.

At the moment brighton prob bigger club than roma imo. Net spend, income from premier league etc. Roma have been broke last few years

I think they sacked him before Jose was sacked by us. He remained as coach for the remainder of the season. Not sure if this correct.
