Well for me, if you look at the club right now we need a direction. I have my preference on what that should be but there are 2 obvious strategies....

1) Big name appointment and another run at top 4 with the core of this squad (plus additions), keeping Harry for another year.

I don’t think any one of us think Fonseca is the man to produce immediate results like potentially Conte could have done, so he doesn’t fit the bill here.

2) A semi rebuild, selling Kane and looking for long term progress through in-club and newly acquired youth players. I guess a rehashed version of what Poch did.

This seems more applicable for Fonseca until you realise he’s been a pretty short team appointment for every club he’s been at.

This appointment stinks of 6th place purgatory to me. I’m happy to go backwards to go forwards personally, but I just fail to see how he fits in with any definable direction the club want to go in.

Add in the extra challenge of managing in a different and very demanding league, and I’ve got a lot of alarm bells going off right now.

Hope that explains it. 👍
On his short term time at clubs only one was a step down, from porto. But he went on to win bragas first trophy in 50 year against porto then. Went to shakter for 3 year and roma for 2. Seems normal span for managers these days. Maybe im too positive because its a warm body finally might be appointed 😂

I'm not too far off that either.

Quite relieved Conte didn't happen but wouldn't deny his ability as a coach (top 5 in the world IMO).

The manager is the obvious and immediate concern but my biggest concerns are what's behind the manager, we've not got an identity. This is deeply concerning and without anyone owning, protecting and nurturing this we are fucked. It's a bigger issue than just hiring a manager, we've lost loads of people the past couple of years all of who had been at the Club for +10-15yrs, all highly rated and I don't think we've replaced a single one effectively!

LOL so because they beat Ajax he’s a better candidate than ETH, Jose also beat pep this year take it you’d have him back over pep then.Ten hag took over an Ajax side who hadn’t won the league in 3 or 4 years and won them back to back titles and took them to the semi final of the champions league, where they hadn’t made it out the group stage since 05, all whilst playing good football.

Fonseca, sacked by Porto where they were sitting 3rd in the Portuguese league and now sacked by Roma after coming 7th. after talks of Conte, Poch and ten hag, it’s not hard to understand why fans are rightly not pleased with this guy. Also as it looks he’s only coming because he can work on a budget and is available without compensation .
For the tenth time! I'm NOT making a claim for Fonseca, I know absolutely fuck all about him! I'm challenging those who say they'd take ten Haag or Potter over him and asking why by asking them to justify it.

You are the first to put in a sound justification for ten Hag.

Is there a manager other than ten Hag that you would entertain? I'm going to assume not.

Cos we know a bit more about those two. Potter can definitely speak English... I don't even know if this bloke can speak English....

I couldn’t agree more. We feel utterly without direction right now.
