No one outside of Leicester, Villa and United have done anything of note because its been non-stop international tournaments all damn summer. Sometimes you can get it over the line (Gil) sometimes not so much (Tomiyasu) and everyone coming off Euros/Copa America is on holiday.

It's very frustrating.

Liverpool added Konate that is a big move for them, especially after the injuries they had last year. They also added Jota in January which doesn't count for a move now, but means they don't need to add someone up front this window.

Edit:

Jota last summer not January, so maybe they should be looking to add there as well or flip Firmino while he still has some value.

I can see this from two perspectives. The first is that Atalanta know we really want Romero and decided to jack the price up on the guy at the last minute. The second is that Atalanta says "we want 55". Levy says "how about 43?"
"We want 55."
"How about 47".
"55"
"52?"
"Fuck you asshole. Its 65 now."

Total bullshit.

If this was indeed the case, for a player that is on loan, we would be better off waiting a season and buying him off Juve, and Atalanta know that. They could end up getting fuck all.

I know I’m being really naive here and Naylor is right about our recent history with players not getting over the line.

but I’m somehow still optimistic about getting Romero in. If the player has agreed to a 5 year deal with us he’ll really want that pay increase and security before going back out and risking injury. I think Romero might be able to force it eventually.

Need him to go on strike and put a clip on social media with him putting pineapple on he's pizza that will make the locals angry.

If he were at a club like Genoa I would feel more comfortable about the move going through but at Atalanta with their recent CL qualifications and high finish I don't think they need to sell him now and if he stays he is likely looking at another top 4 finish with CL football.

He can wait a year and by then the Spanish government, banks and La Liga will have done some shady stuff to get RM and Barca back financially so they can spend recklessly again.

I still think it is more likely than not that we get him but I don't sense that Atalanta has to sell this year or that Romero would feel that he has to put pressure on to get a move to us.
