We are a million miles away from being a force, in real terms and in transfer activity.

Such is life but we could easily get left behind because we are currently a middle of the road outfit.

We have so little pull it's frightening..

Would people be happy if we let Kane go for £60M & Bernardo & Torres? 🤔

No....

150m cash
200m part-exchange.

Both prices subject to 50m increase should City pay 100m for Grealish.... As they'd be inflating the HG market.

(Torres only cost 20m last summer.... He's still a bit part player for them so arguably yet to be worth any more than that..... )

In theory at least....

I'd just tell them to fuck off regardless.

We could then use that £60M to fund Vlahovic, and partly contribute to defensive upgrades.

Isn't Vlahovic rumoured to have a 60m price-tag anyway?

We'd also have to replace him too
Not got a lot of depth in the attacking positions with Bale/Vinicius/Lamela gone now.

So how much we'd actually put towards other areas I'm not sure which then does it actually make it worth it? Idk.

He's only had 18 months. He needs more time imo.

I think that Matheus Periera would be an upgrade, if for nothing else his skill set and being more of a RW fit our needs, would be an immediate upgrade and for less that the money reported in the Ajax deal.

Someone said Periera had some attitude issues, I had not heard that so maybe not a fit there.

Sabiter as a RW would be an upgrade. I don't love getting older but also rumours that his price is not big and likely to not be more than the Ajax money for Bergwijn.

I think Bergwijn is better than what we have seen but with concerns about his scoring ability and ability to play as a RW, and with our massive need for both, it is certainly worth looking at other options if there is a quality offer for him.

This is from an Athletic in depth piece on West Brom:
Ismael harbours reservations about Pereira’s effectiveness in the high-tempo, high-pressing style he is seeking to adopt and wants the star of the last two seasons to find a new club.

Ideally, that would be in a permanent transfer that should bring in more than £25 million.

But if that solution cannot be found, Ismael would consider loaning Pereira for a season and using the loan fee to reinvest in his squad.

The fact they're willing to let him go on loan and would just reinvest the meagre loan free rings alarm bells for me.

No

Torres, Laporte and 60M I would take but I don't think for Bernardo and Torres as it would leave too many holes in our team. We would still need help at CB, CM, RB in that case and would have too many attacking mid fielders.

If we also sold Tanguy for 60m+ to use to buy someone like Locatelli + funds for a CB then I would look at Bernardo but then we are talking about a lot of squad changes.

I've come full circle on selling Kane. If he is definitely off next year, I'd sell him now assuming we get a reasonable offer. Will hurt badly this year - quite obviously - but might set us up for better success in coming years. Just have to be smart about it, which, of course, is the concern!

Real question is: Can we qualify for CL with Kane this year? If so, we keep him. If it is a long shot given our squad, sell.

Unless our rivals have major injury issues, and even then we could miss out, I don't see anyway we get CL next season with or without Kane.

Bernardo wants to leave, and with Grealish at City he will basically get no game time at City, so will be easier to attract than Laporte. If Laporte wanted to come, that's a no brainer, but I doubt he will (especially as he can easily get back in first XI).

I disagree with you that it would leave holes in the team.
Bernardo can play in midfield, and is very hard working. I remember a couple of seasons ago he broke records in terms of distance covered for City in some big games. With his work rate, we can start Hojbjerg Bernardo Ndombele/GLC in mid.
Torres RW with £60M to fund Vlahovic leaves our attack very well balanced.

Defensive upgrades can hopefully be funded with sales of Sanchez, Dier, Winks, Aurier. £18M already in the bank from Foyth+ Toby. With not too much net spend we could bring in Romero, Lacroix, Aarons.

Re-posting because it's timely:

I saw a bbc quote that said city were a ‘club with a soul’ and had won the EPL 'the right way' and thought “what fucking sycophantic moron is peddling that bullshit and trying to rewrite their pay-to-win strategy?”

Joe Hart, ladies and gentlemen, Joe Fucking Hart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I didn't mind the guy up until this point. But it confirms 2 things: professional football players are mostly morons, and Joe Hart is the massive, grinning chief of Moron.
He couldn't be more moron if he turn up at your door asking if you'd heard the good news about City.
3. Celtic have dandruff.
He was born in my neck of the woods and a lot of people I know grew up with him. The image he presents is far from the truth. Apparently he's a horrible arrogant cunt who got even worse the further he progressed. I guess that's the same with many a footballer though. You only have to look at them to realise that. James Madison for example
Keep Kane.
Deadwood sales + 60m kitty roughly = £120m
Romero 50m
Tommy 20m
1 x CB 30m
= 20m to spare..... aka 1st installment on an ST2 (If that can be Vlahovic then result!)
Missed out on CL & EL, also our financial position may be worse due to a year without fans in stadiums.
Ditto last summer (the drop off between EL & ECL will be nothing like as big as from the CL to EL)....
Some predicted zero spend and zero signings last year...... We juggled things and managed 6 players and 60m+ spent.
Like I just said, the future is clearer now and we borrowed a bunch of money on a long term bond to cushion the blow of the C19 deficit.
So why not?
It's hardly a radical suggestion on my part.
