Ings has the option of playing in nothing mid table games for Soton or coming to Spurs to play in big games. And in Europe, too!
Likely to get a big wage increase as well as playing in front of big crowds and maybe making himself famous. The average punter has never heard of him.

Why does Atalanta need to hide a deal to bring in a replacement?

Any team that was going to add on the mythical jacked up cost already knows they are getting big money for Romero anyways.

If we are holding back bringing in Romero this late in the window so Atalanta can pay the same price they would anyways this club is worse run than I thought.

They aren’t playing poker though.

Do you honestly believe that if they buy Demiral today it will be one price, but after selling Romero Juve will be shocked that they got money for Romero and charge a different price?

I know this is a a nice myth that many people like to spread but there is nothing to indicate it is true. Everyone knows that Atalanta are selling Romero and if they aren't then they aren't buying replacements.

Also, with two weeks before our first game and two pre-season games to get Romero integrated into the squad why are Spurs happy to delay bringing him in? They gain nothing but lose vital time they need.

Do you not think Juventus instantly realise that Atalanta will sell Romero when the bid for Demiral comes in?
Igula is correct here. There's no way to 'poker face' this. Atalanta also signed a young CB today, so unless Juve are foolish enough to think Atalanta are stacking up on spare CBs, they'll know Demiral is Romero's replacement.

I have a feeling this deal will happen very soon. Spurs bid 45 million euros, Atalanta asked for 55, and now Spurs have moved up to 50 million. Atalanta are being difficult, but it's clear they intend to sell, Romero is intent on leaving and wants it done asap.

Italian media is now full of detailed reports of their planned list of replacements. Only a matter of time.

Yep, this is basically a done deal now imo.
Atalanta holding out further is untenable, they'll also want to sign Demiral quickly and integrate him in.

Does seem a lot closer than the Skriniar deal, but I’m still pessimistic when it comes to Spurs and Levy. At any point this can go tits up with the way we operate. Just got to hope the info is true about us going all out for him as he’s our number 1 priority this window. Surely we can’t mess this up now ?
