We are no longer in a position to negotiate - we have fucken Dier and Sanchez starting in 2 weeks. Pay what they want and get his man here so we can have at least half a defence!

As it stands we’ve actually weakened our squad so far this window. Paratici seems a fraud - worrying signs
Not sure how you can blame Paratici- his job is to identify signings, right? And he's identified Romero who is a top quality defender and persuaded him to come to Spurs.

We compromised in these negotiations massively, but Atalanta seem to be very obstinate. Spurs angry.

Di Marzio:

"Instead the parties left badly and the meeting did not have the desired effects. The negotiation could even be permanently skipped. In the next few hours there will be further contacts between the parties to understand the margins to mend and, if necessary, resume the discussion already well underway in recent days."

I just don’t understand how Spurs are the only club on the planet that seem to be impossible to deal with. We must of made 1000 enemies with our antics. It’s too much of a coincidence this happens every time we try to sign a big player for it not to be Tottenham’s fault. It’s classic Levy written all over this.

We are always compromised. Wake up son. Maybe it’s Spurs that are the ones always messing up ? Happens far too often for me

I still think it likely goes through but there still would be a question, as there always is when we are involved, is how much our dicking around early on led to Atalanta (reportedly) have now decided to go down this route.

The most hated slimey snake in world football - proven low-baller. Dodgy Dave

I think it's possible our reputation as hard to negotiate with made them take a very hard stance. To the point where even when we compromise, they stand firm.

I don't know if it even our reputation but how we actually have been in the interactions between the clubs. Paratici is mentioned as being a "tough negotiator" himself so if Atalanta has felt like we have been dicking them around it isn't necessarily surprising that now they aren't in a rush to get the deal done now that we may be finally willing to pay an amount they feel should have been paid weeks ago.

Either way the deal, like many others we have been involved in previously, is more complicated than it should be.

Man, what a headache. Really hope this gets done, an aggressive, front-foot, dominant cb would be such a help to our midfield and team in general. Not sure what's going on in these negotiations, but I'll be very disappointed if this doesn't go through, especially since the player seems eager to join the club.

This transfer would shatter Atalanta's all-time high (sale).

Atlanta agree all terms, Romero agrees all terms ..... Spurs agree all terms.

Then Atlanta decide to hold the deal until they have signed a replacement .....

So somehow that's all Levy's fault? (he's not even doing the negotiating)

Some people's blind hatred for our club, or maybe it's just sheer stupidity, goes beyond any sane reasoning, but I guess haters gotta hate (and disagree ;) )

I'm not sure this is right.

I don't think Spurs met Atalanta's asking price. Perhaps they did, but only if you include add ons. The details aren't clear yet.
What is true is that it looks like Spurs are the ones who compromised, but Atalanta are being obstinate, and perhaps throwing in some delaying tactics.
