I'm not sure this is right.

I don't think Spurs met Atalanta's asking price. Perhaps they did, but only if you include add ons. The details aren't clear yet.
What is true is that it looks like Spurs are the ones who compromised, but Atalanta are being obstinate, and perhaps throwing in some delaying tactics.

Spurs and Atlanta agreed the terms yesterday (sure it's a complicated deal Paratici is renowned for those) it was only after that agreement that Atalanta threw in the - after we sign someone - idea.

Paratici was allegedly spitting feathers - he wanted Romero to start training even if that was in isolation at HW - 90% it will still happen, the point being made was this had feck all to do with Levy - as I said haters gotta hate ... they even claim that is 'support' all very odd to me.

It seems Atalanta is trying to stall until Romero’s replacement is found, and Spurs say they’re ready to walk.
According to DiMarzio, Atalanta have been delaying coming to an agreement because they want to get Romero’s replacement in first. That, it seems, has led to the breakdown in talks today — Spurs went as far as to up their offer to €50m in an attempt to speed things along, as they want Romero in the club and ready to start in time for the Premier League opener against Manchester City on August 14, only to have Atalanta demur.

So you know this? If you don't i suggest you take a walk outside.

If Paratici wanted Romero in and was willing to pay to get it done perhaps he should have made that offer sooner rather then dragging it out and pissing of Atalanta.

Nobody negotiates by putting their top offer first - no sane person anyway.

Who said it had to be the first offer?

We have seen how well Levy’s negotiating tactics has worked in the past. Now we have Paratici who is supposedly a similar negotiator.

When we see our rivals getting deals done and us consistently missing out on top players maybe we should revisit the way we handle these things.

I never 'know' anything 100% but I do have a fairly decent source - he only tells me stuff AFTER it has happened, it's a dismissal offence to leak stuff ... so I'm pretty sure what he said is true and already done.

Bottom line it's only informed gossip take it or leave it, I'm just putting it out there.
You are what makes Tottenham arse. Have a word

What deals? you want to spend 50m on White?

Top clubs transfers so far -

Chelsea
  • Marcus Bettinelli (Free)
Liverpool
  • Ibrahima Konate (RB Leipzig)
Man City
  • Scott Carson (Derby, free)
Man Utd
  • Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)
  • Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)
  • Tom Heaton (Aston Villa)
Spurs
  • Pierluigi Gollini (Atalanta, loan)
  • Bryan Gil (Sevilla)

So once again you're basing your argument on completely false facts - we are not "seeing our rivals getting deals done" .... hardly any deals have yet been done ...

Wait until the window shuts - this time last year fans were saying the same thing - we ended up with seven signings spending 110m - have patience it's a marathon not a sprint.

First off, you left off Leicester which have multiple deals.

Second, this is far from a one season issue.

But if seeing the teams already ahead of us making better deals than us then I guess that fits with your ENIC/Levy apologist nature.

Last season the transfer window was not good enough. We once again went with cheap options rather than addressing real issues, saying wait we get get another window like that is not really saying much.

Why is it our alternatives to our first choice transfers are either shite or average? With a DOF there should be better choices.

Can someone who speaks Spanish ( Bill Madrid Bill Madrid ?) please translate this.
The twitter aggregators are having a nightmare trying to decipher it.

Spare part?
And is 'proximas horas' an idiom meaning 'near future' or literally referring to the next few hours?

"Recambio" here means replacement player. And I'd say "próximas horas" is being used like our old friend "48 hours"

Here is what I can best understand has happened.

Tottenham have now made or proposed a suitable offer.
Atalanta have not accepted because they are waiting to find/buy a replacement.

Tottenham are fustrated because they expected just to get the offer accepted and wrap up the deal. They want the player in immediately.
However, Tottenham have to understand they have been patiently negotiating for 2 weeks and now just expect Atalanta to hurry up when we've been dithering for 2 weeks.

This all seems a bid childish and it also seems like stuff is being leaked as almost part of the negotiation/PR Tactics

It seems we are at a delicate moment in this deal. Tottenham just have to remain calm/patient. They are so close to bringing in such a MASSIVE talent. Don't mess it up now.
