Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I hate that he's put us back into the sportlight, I can turn on/listen to any sports outlet without hearing negative shit about the club I love because of this and I resent him for that.
Well put.
We are an embarrassment. Have been for a while now. Look you, no doubt, I was half looking forward to a quiet-ish preseason and an under the radar beginning to NES’s tenure.

Had TalkSport on in the car when Durham referred to us as amateur. Painful to hear - yet again - but couldn’t disagree. Still turned off though!

Kane clearly wants to go. If city have bid 100m it would be very risky to turn it down & keep an unhappy Harry. Unless we wanted to go for the title & made acquisitions to match that ambition. We clearly are happy with scraping top 4 so he should go.
Would you rather 100m or a few realistic players they might throw in as part payment? Jesus, ake spring to mind. Both ok but not great in my view. 7 out of 10 players. But they would probably improve us when you consider the state of our squad :kanehand:
Three years ago a 33 year old Ronaldo went to Juventus for £88m. Selling Kane for something in that region now would be criminal neglect by Levy.

I'd always take the money and never take a player 'on the way down' as a rule. More flexibility that way plus I prefer young, hungry players and not one's that think they are above us/doing us a favor. But this is all in theory. If we had a real recruitment setup it would be sound...actually if we had a real recruitment setup many of these players, including Harry, would probably have already been moved on and replaced.

BTW- Where u been?

edit - and yes, I would take 100M and their hand with it. But then again I've been on the sell Harry/rebuild train for some time now.

Aww , fuck it all....

I'd quite like to be GUARANTEED a successful season next year, with a GUARANTEED trophy to celebrate... who do I need to change allegiances to, and start supporting to GUARANTEE that?

Burn my Spurs scarf, sell my 40+ years of memorabilia to the highest bidder.... Forza Madrid/,Juve/PSG/Delete as applicable Utd!

As would taking Nathan Fucking Ake I truly suspect people who mention his transfer do not watch EPL football. He was among a select bunch of players along with Boric, Yoshida, Marriappa, Xaha that I'd celebrate whenever I saw them line up against us.

Modric wanted to leave, as does Kane, but the club refused to sell and he stayed for a year and played well. Kane wants goal scoring records and to play well at the next World Cup, so for totally selfish reasons he has motivation to play well for us if he stayed. We can get £100m a year from now with the added bonus of 20 league goals and a bunch of assists from Harry next season. We do not need to sell for anything other than a stupid amount of money and frankly, we don't want to set that precedent (that we'll sell our best player for a 'reasonable' fee). All clubs should know that if you come for our best player when they have years to run on their contract, you'll have to pay a transfer fee that will make your arse bleed.
THIS.
Post of the thread.

So far.....

Yeah I agree on that. That’s why not really a fan of last summer Willian type signings or injury prone players.
I felt like the grassroots anti levy/enic went Mainstream so my work was done. Good to have a few months off Internet forums too. My work has been admirably continued on here. & I must say, I am ever so proud of you all.
Ps. Shame England couldn’t get over the final hurdle.

...if you are prepared to deal with the consequences of not selling. Anyone can be irrational if they'd like. But if the consequences are less money, wasted season, shit player performance, devalued asset, reluctant agents/players, etc etc etc would you be running through the streets singing glory glory because we kept Kane? Pyrrhic victories are labelled as such for a reason.

You say this like it's something to which we should aspire. What is to be gained? Where is your consideration of the time-value of money or opportunity cost? If we take less than we desire where is your consideration of the current market in that and how much that money NOW can do for us?

Yup, just like Eriksen did. Can't wait for that groundhog day to resurface. And if I remember correctly Luka didn't play the first few games that season. I remember a trip to OT with Harry saying his head wasn't right...and most fans not really appreciating how good he was anyway and preferring the waddling stylings of VDV.

Exceptions exist everywhere but they don't disprove the rules. There was just a Guardian article from a survivor of a plane crash in the Colombian mountains. I think there were 150ish dead and she and her father were 2 of 4 survivors. Would you like to take your chances with that exception as well?
Firstly that's an if about a wasted season etc and a pretty big one. The most similar player situation in recent years was Modric and he got on with it after an initial sulk and played brilliantly, nor did it hamper our ability to sign players. Do we just cave if a player wants out? How much would you sell Kane for right now?
There's no dancing through the streets and extreme examples of reactions are not helpful in this conversation as I'm purposely avoiding hyperbole and emotional responses. This isn't about victory, this is about doing what's best for the club, it's clearly not a good situation for anyone.

When did I mention aspiration? I'm dealing with things as they stand now. How much should we sell for in your opinion? Of course the club should consider all the consequences but as with Mod they did and have made a decision, one I happen to agree with. What would you have done with Kane in terms of sale time and price? Should we have sold him last year or even before? How much for?

Eriksen was a different situation, his contract was running down, he wasn't wanted particularly by a wealthy club and in his last full season we finished 4th and reached the CL final. If a City had come in things would've been different but he wanted a move, there wasn't a City trying to sign him with 3 years left unlike Kane.

As for Mod I already said he sulked for a couple of weeks and just got on with it afterwards and had a great season. Or do you dispute this? I'm dealing with situations as I remember them, not putting a positive or negative spin on them to win an argument.

I've no comment on the Guardian article, I'm dealing with this situation only.
