He can come to Spurs, work on his weaknesses and prepare in the Premier League for his inevitable move to City if he becomes top class.

Honestly thought he was out of our reach. Would like to see this develop, but won't hold my breath.

Pau Torres is an interesting one.

New name to the list. Think United were sniffing around pre the Varane signing.

24 Y/O. Tall 6'4 not the quickest but a good reader of the game.

Good passer, cultured left foot. Physical enough from the bits I've seen of him, good in the air.

Yeah, okay. I'm in.

Obligatory YouTube compilation

Then we should avoid.

Sounds BS to me but here's a tweet:

I prefer to do the maths rather than 'math'.

Are we supposed to multiply those 2 numbers and turn a blind eye to the financial arrangements between kit manufacturers and clubs?

Wouldn't pretend I know, but always imagined that Nike are the kind of company I would expect to want a very generous share of product sales for items they get 8 year olds to manufacture in the developing world.

Tottenham are set to step up their attempts to sign Sporting Lisbon's Joao Palhinha, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old Portugal midfielder. (A Bola - in Portuguese
we are becoming the English Benfica. I think the nunos needs to broaden his outlook OR we we becoming Mendes FC?
Don't much like either scenario.
Give me a break with this Mendes FC stuff. We've made three signings so far this summer and I don't believe any of them have any Mendes links at all.

The thing about Vlahovic is before last season, he was going to be sold by Fiorentina. They are the team I follow in Italy and he started the season poorly missing an open goal vs Inter and being at fault for their comeback (they won 4-3 in the last minute). Was a great game actually!

He was awful under Montella and he constantly changed between Vlahovic, Cutrone (yep, the ex-Wolves guy) and Koaume. So he defo was not 'great' at that stage (last season still!)

Then Montella got sacked and Iachini came in. Fiorentina started playing some awful, sit-back and long-ball counter football (akin to Mourinho) but he started playing better. He basically scored the important goals and held the ball up well and etc. He defo sacrificed himself for the team.

Then the last Manager Prandelli came in (Fiorentina had 3 managers last season) and he was unreal. Under Prandelli, there was a tactical change and they tried to attack more.

When people say he had 1 amazing season, I feel that is kind of untrue. I feel like he was amazing come season end but was not so impressive since the first game of last season.

On the flipside, he played really well or excellently under 2 managers with completely different tactical approaches and philosophy and he delivered, showing that he is probably not a one-trick pony as a striker.

I think he has what it takes from a physical, technical and from all reports, psychological point of view (is hungry) but i'd be very careful. He was hot stuff for less than a season, really.

I'd have gone for someone more established (Lukaku) where you definitely know what you are getting but what are the chances that a player of that calibre comes to us? 🤷‍♂️

I guess we'll have to take a pun on potential. Vlahovic could be that guy, but wouldn't bank on a guy that was amazing for 6 months either...
M
Good stuff.

Very basic question - how quick is he? So, if we’re up against a top six side and they push up, playing a high line, the ball gets played through, would he have the pace to take it on himself?
He's quicker than Kane i'd say but not someone i'd consider a speed merchant. Somewhere in between Kane and Son (speed wise).

Pau Torres would be great and would be the kind of calibre that explains such a delay in signing that second CB.

A cultured ball player to pair with Romero's aggression.

Surely he'd go for a similar fee to Romero?

Nike pay the club to make their shirt exclusively and Nike take almost all the profit from every one sold. It's barely pennies in the pound to the club.
We get a £30m sum over 5 years and Nike make and sell the kits and set the price. Hence why Brighton, a much smaller club with a small deal, have cheaper Nike shirts.

RM did on Bale, and look how that turned out, initially at least.
Bale had a breakout season when RM signed him, but it was only really the latter part of that season where he REALLY looked World Class. Let us not forget that Redknapp was on the verge of loaning him out at one point.

We even had fans claiming that Kane would never make it, based on his early performances with us.

There are a lot of factors that can contribute to a player succeeding or failing, but you can only base your judgement on whether the player has the requisite tools that give him the best chance of succeeding, talent, work ethic, mental strength and desire. If he has all of these then it increases his chances of being a success, Kane being the prime example of this.

I've never seen the guy play so, in your opinion, would you say he has all of those attributes?f

From all reports, yes. Apparently he has appeared even more motivated this season and is even hungrier for success whether at Fiorentina or elsewhere.

I'd say he does.

Yeah that sounds much more believable than multiplying the retail cost by shirt sales for a club profit total.
You would have to be a moron to think that would be the case.. They already pay a fortune to sponsor the club, plus the cost of manufacturing!

If he gets bored he can always visit the town square.

But to be serious for a minute I don't expect him to actually live in Degerfors. Örebro is an actual city and is only 40 kms away so he will probably live around there and commute in for training and games. Like most players. Degerfors stadium literally takes more people than live in the town.
And Sweden is packed with statuesque blondes. He'll probably not go out much.....He'll be exhausted

Well, going by our version of the Nike story, it's 117 pounds for the player version of the jersey which is about 138 euros. He's probably inflating that by adding badges or something (unless it's more expensive in other countries).

So there's a bit of fibbing going on already as I doubt most would opt for the premium version. Additionally, I don't believe for a second they'll sell 10 million.

Edit: oh, and then you have to remember that the club only gets a small slice of the shirt sales with Nike making the vast majority of it (hence why clubs get paid handsomely up front for shirt deals).
