We'll have to agree to disagree in that case FWIW, I was speaking in general terms as I've read the following on here:

"Dele has been screwed by Jose", if that's true then it's fair to say this might be true of others.

I appreciate football is a transient sport but players are humans and it's been documented how some have suffered with a change of leadership and all it brings.

I got the sense from your post that Winks wasn't fit for a squad player however few teams have depth and quality on the bench and suffer when a key player is out.

I can't confess to have watched all of Winks games but i've seen the majority and for me i've always felt he's been one of the more committed players.

Well I've watched every minute of every match can tell you Winks isn't a top half player. Not even a top half bench warmer.

So you would take a player City are desperate to sell because they do not see him as part of their plans. Seen very little from Silva that him and 85m can even come close to replacing Kane. I think we would have just sold our best player for absolutely nothing in this market to get a good player but nothing special. Like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher say Kane is the best player in the league we need to get best player in the league money for him. People who compare him to the Coutinho deal are deluded they got £140m for a sub bench player and used that to buy a top quality CB
Don’t mean to be rude, but if that’s what you think of Silva I’d suggest you haven’t watched him too much. He’s an absolute magician. Probably should have won league player of the year in 18/19.

City and Pep make individual talents so much less fun and impressive. Think how much better it was to watch Mahrez on Leicester, you know Grealish won’t be nearly as fun to watch. Think Silva has been a victim of their hoarding of talented players. As a feature player here, I think he’d be unreal.

This is the crux.

2021 PL money

3. Chelsea
Actual League Position: 4th
No. Of Paid TV Games: 27
Estimated Prize Money: £158.2m
Estimated Rebate: £7.3m
Total: £150.9m

7. Tottenham
Actual League Position: 7th
No. Of Paid TV Games: 25
Estimated Prize Money: £145.7m
Estimated Rebate: £6.3m
Total: £139.4m

Just from finishing 4 places above us they made £11m more than us.
Those 4 places put them in the CL with at least 6 champions league games and the silly money per game.
They also won the last champions league last season. £23m for one game plus all the games leading up to it. Probably £120m+ for that run.

We played in the Ropey league which is embarrassing compared to the CL. Pocket money Vs serious income.

This year we're not even getting that.

Chelsea comprehensively out earn us legitimately. And the longer we're not in the CL the worse it gets.
Not being n the CL is no longer an acceptable outcome. Prior to the new stadium it was, not anymore.
The stadium is built for the very top and with it the top level sponsors and revenues.
This is why the money will be spent, it needs to be in order to underpin the massive investment and secure/attract revenues..

Because they are doped.

Will they continue with top 4 finishes and CL runs if standing on their own two feet?

How many times have we seen clubs assume ongoing CL participation and fall foul of it?

Without Oligarch money behind them they don't stand to legitimately earn more than us as a club. Only by performing, which will be much harder without uncle Romans hand outs.

It would be foolish to assume they would simply continue their current status, or that we will either

I actually really like Silva (and agree with the highlighted part in his case). I just don't think he'll be a great fit.... Reason being, if we're gonna play Son & Gio as 2 of a group of 3 AMs it makes so much more sense to me to take the equivalent cash value of Silva and buy a boss right winger instead in a 4231.... Even more so if the plan is 433, 343 or 442 instead (all of which would also see Gio sit deeper). The CAM role only really fits in a 4231 or a diamond (please no!!!).

It's beyond belief how much effort goes into people arguing that Chavs & City are legit on a Spurs forum..... It's crazy.

Committed? Watch the Chelsea’s 2nd goal in that pre season MIND jamboree. Committed to practicing hurdles

99% of the world prefers grealish. You have a right to an opinion but when you state it is fact, you don’t look so bright.

You’ve also been making the same argument for a week so I don’t know what your goal is.
I don't have a Machiavellian plan. Not trying to wind anyone up but honestly I don't see the grealish love and prefer Madison. My opinion. Thanks for the insult though...cheers

That’s all fine and well but it discounts the fact we made UCL five years in a row including a final and during that period did not restrengthen an aging team when we had the opportunity and revenue streams to do so.

We are still paying for the 2016-2019 period where we did very little to improve the squad (Sissoko, Janssen, Sanchez, Aurier, Moura, Foyth, Llorente, Wanyama) when we were in title races and regularly in the UCL knockout stages.

If we had bought better and more, those would be the players that stepped up to replace Toby, Vertonghen, Walker, Dembele, Eriksen, Kane, etc.

Instead, most of the players we bought from those windows are either already gone or are basically deadwood. The only one we aren’t actively trying to offload is Moura, which is controversial in its own right. So we’re trying to conduct a massive rebuild because our signings in the period where we were at our best and most attractive as a destination were hideous.

And that’s not even addressing the fact that our following two windows when we realized the team was falling apart and we needed to spend haven’t exactly been great. Lo Celso, Ndombele, Sess, Reguilon, Doherty, Rodon, and Bergwijn still have it all to prove. And all those signings except Rodon and Doherty were 25m+. Only Hojbjerg has really proved himself to be quality, consistent, and healthy.

Our recruitment has let us down massively since we became a UCL regular. The centerpieces of our best teams Kane, Eriksen, Dembele, Dier, Vertonghen, Walker, Lloris, Son, Rose, Alderweireld were all bought before being UCL regulars. Brutal how we’ve replaced and added to them.

We can’t just blame not being as rich as City, Chelsea, United etc. We’ve squandered hundreds of millions over the last five years.

Then why let us fall so far before reacting

Not a dig, I agree with what you are saying but the team should have been in constant upgrade over the last 3-4 years. We do seem to be locking the door after the horse has bolted, we are now a less attractive proposition

Got any updates? Nothing seems to have happened this week at all.

Pau Torres to Nikola Milenkovic

Who would not be a good signing.
He's £15m and yet no other club but West Ham have gone for him doesn't that tell you something.
- Too agressive would not work well with Romero
- Has concentration issues like Dier
- Always plays in a back 3 not a back 4

We can do MUCH better.
We have a net spend of 0 so far. I expect better. Lacroix is right out there too btw. smh. If we have money for Torres why are we going for someone like Milenkovic.

How come champions league wasn’t a priority when both ManU and Chelsea were both out of it and signed players?

Because players and agents have reason to believe that they will do what is needed to get back to CL. So while they may be out for a season they are likely to be right back there again.

With us there is no reason to think that we will get back to CL under Levy. He has shown he is not willing to pay for players to get us back there, not willing to hire quality managers and not willing to take risks to improve the team.
