Match Tottenham v. Manchester City (Sun Aug. 15 16:30 BST)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It was a truly brilliant performance and result. Also when you consider the Harry Kane fiasco hanging over our heads. Absolutely brilliant. But, this doesn’t mean this current team are good enough. We still need to work on that defence and 1000000% need another top goal scorer even if Harry stays. That Bergwijn miss could of cost us today. It didn’t and I am so grateful we battled like warriors, but let’s not get ahead ourselves here, we need to do plenty of work in the window still. Nuno extremely likeable too by the way.

Couldn't agree more, take nothing away from the performance, but add a pacey AM between Pierre and Skipp, a forward such as Martinez and add a centre back and secondary striker (should Kane go) and along with Gil we would have an outstanding attacking side.

It's a long season, but I'll tell you now, I would love it if we finish above a Kane City team.

love it GIF

On Blue Moon.

I guess it's just a matter of open check book playing, rinse and repeat. The thing is this idiot is not alone in his thinking.

"Mendy, Gundogan, Mahrez and Sterling all wank. 111 points left to play for and Kane coming in a couple days. No need to flap"

Blue Moon again. Winks had a good game....... apparently

"Agree with the hole in CM - winks and hojberg had the bite & coverage & Ferna couldn’t do what he wanted to do."

: ostrich:

Loved everyone throwing in hard tackles and really playing for each other and the shirt. Liked how we didn’t try an play out of the back against their press. No way tanganga goes out on loan. I like Stevie but he’s got to be more clinical otherwise he’s not good enough to start.

Amazing atmosphere and energy today. I was doubtful going in but am now excited for this season. Long way to go but it really feels like champagne football is back.

Outstanding performance.

The quality of our squad was there to see and players clearly showing the manager that they deserve to be at this club. With new players coming in, every player is fighting for their spot.

The change in referee style worked to our advantage. Harder tackles we tolerated and clearly Nuno did his homework in this regard.

I do wonder if Pep will now put pressure on the referee's to 'protect' his players.

I was very impressed with Alli. Rarely joined in the attack and put in a shift in midfield; covering the most ground and the fastest average speed. He didn't try anything flash; he knuckled down and grafted. Of course, because he wasn't popping up in attacking positions he was getting some stick on here for 'going missing'...sigh.

Agree with most you say. There is and never will be champaign football. It is a long grind and we will grind the hardest under Nuno as manager. Hard work pays the bills.

Chucking a "pacey AM" in essentially changes the entire balance of today's 433 into a 4231.

Another one who can't just enjoy the win and has to try and prove a point. Everyone played out of their skins today but if you think that CB pairing is going to bring us any lasting success you are deluded.

They both made dozens of mistakes last season that cost us goals and will do so again this season guaran-fucking-teed.

We still need players, now can I enjoy the win or is some other smarm merchant going to chirp up on some desperate points scoring exercise?
Don’t waste your time with him

Meh

I didn't see any of that nonsense.

We got lucky City missed their multiple sitters and that Ederson didn't make an effort on Son's shot.

We got the 3 points and at the end of the day that is all that matters especially with how tight the table is likely to be but it was far from a solid performance from Spurs, outside of Japhet, and we saw tons of problems we will have going forward.

Boo hoo igula,
Stop crying like you know f all. Cause you don’t. Just enjoy a win. You miserable guy or girl!

A proper team performance. Very similar to an early Poch era team, winning by stamina and aggression.

Across the 4 home wins against City, they probably lost the most 50%-50% balls in this one. Very likely they were not as fit compared to us.

Dele, Son, Stevie and Lucas fitness were crucial in yesterday's win.

Not sure why so much criticism of the line up.

Skipp gives us some fresh enthusiasm in midfield, Dele can unlock defences and Son, Bergjwin gives us pace up top on the break.

3-1 Spurs

Well, I managed 13 negatives on this before the game. Love proving you folks wrong. Excellent pre season prep and team choice.

City weren't ready, too many players off on internation duty and their body language in the 2nd half showed that they were 'out of ideas'.

Breaking out of the mould of being a "harry kane" team under a pragmatic manager is all that Spurs needed.

Sanchez and Dier showing they can put in a proper shift under the right manager.

Hope Tomiyasu + Vlahovic or Martinez get signed asap and Kane gets his move out to the oil club
