Outside of preventing a goal I believe, yes. Deliberate in the sense that there was a deliberate action that led to the handball, not that they meant it.
There's what, how many inches between your thigh and your arm? The ball clearly hits his thigh, bounces onto his arm and then he moves his right arm a little as anyone would in that situation. Without the ball hitting his thigh I'd be saying penalty all day long, but take away the we hate Chelsea thing and that's never a red card. Even a penalty is questionable, but to send him off is simply the referee making it about himself.
Chelsea have been getting every 50/50 decision go their way so far. 1 textbook decision doesn't change the other 50/50 ones...

incorrect. if it is denial of a goal scoring opportunity and you don't play the ball, its a red.
I think he has to give the penalty, I don't think he should send the player off though, yellow card and a bit of common sense, the penalty is harsh enough as its difficult to 100% say that's intentional handball.
But we don't do common sense refereeing these days we do sweeping rules.
I also saw Salah both mouthing off at the linesman and then kicking the ball away, not booked.
Chelsea player booked for complaining about the penalty.
There is zero consistency.
Now that the crowds are back in its back to Liverpool getting everything at Anfield every other week because the officials are weak as piss.
But we don't do common sense refereeing these days we do sweeping rules.

I will say that an accidental handball whether it prevents a goal or not as a red seems harsh to me.

The thing is that after it comes off his thigh, James moves his arm to the ball. It's not a simple ricochet that he is powerless to prevent.
I'm not sure but I believe so - sure seems like it at least.
I think the ref has done pretty well overall to be honest, he wasn't giving a foul everytime Anfield screamed for one. For the penalty/red card, if that is the rule then he's just enforcing it. I don't like the rule, but can't really blame the ref for it.
