Before we played any games, on paper I wanted us to sign a couple of centre-halves, a right-back and keep Kane.
We have kept Kane and signed 1 centre-half. But now I have seen us play and how Nuno wants to set up, I think we might be ok with the 1 new centre-half. We still need a right-back unless Tanganga improves his distribution, but he might. So we can get away without a right-back IF Tanganga stays fit.
Still need a RB... Doherty is shite.... And even though Serge is good enough as back-up he's on the club's out list too.
But now (after seeing us play a few games) I think we need a wide forward to complete the front 3, next to Son and Kane. I think that would be the biggest "difference maker" to our season, a quality player to replace Lucas/Bergwijn, with those 2 being squad players rather than regular starters.
We could, perhaps, go big on such a player, as it's also a bit of insurance should we want to sell Kane next summer. Though hopefully, such a player would elevate the team, we'd be successful and Kane would stay and be part of it.
Who could we get though? I don't know. I think Traore isn't this player, but I also think he'd be better than Lucas or Bergwijn, so I'm not set against us signing him. But I'd prefer an actual goal-scorer, a player who can be like Son. Could Gil develop? No idea. But if we only sign one more player, this is the position I'd like to see us improve on.
Goal-scoring RW-er for me please.
Alongside 3 solid goalscorers in Son, Kane & Mr X; with Berg, Lucas, Gil & Scarlet to mix it up with; at least the depth is there if we don't get a back-up CF.
