If Neves goes to United he would replace Fred. Ole loves McTominay, so when he comes back both Fred and Neves probably go to the bench. It is a very marginal upgrade to them.

You're being needlessly facetious; I didn't read the rest of your post.

My point:

"Decent" is a pretty meek level and very faint praise; barely any praise at all(*).

To say that Romero is the only "decent" CB we have is frankly poo-poo.

(*We clashed about Vinicius the other day over the word "Decent" too.... I'm not sure you have a strong grasp of it's connotations.)

Well, regarding Romero I just can't make any super-bold statements, as he has never played meaningful minutes on EPL level. Very possible that he will be superb or excellent. Can't throw those words around just yet, can I.

But regarding Sanchez performances from his 2nd season to end of last season + Vinicius last season - sorry, I stand my ground - both of them I would describe as not sufficient, inadequate, sub-bar etc. If I say decent, it is close do adequate. Here I might be mistaken, as English is my 2nd language. But defender who gets pushed off ball like Sanchez did against Gundogan, or defender who plays in back-line that concedes as many goals as we did last season can't be adequate for Spurs or decent enough to be relied upon. Same goes for striker who lets ball bounce off him like he'd be a lump of wood.
They might be decent on level of footballing world in general. If scale includes 8th level amateur teams up to CL winners. But not decent on level that even club like Spurs needs and requires.

So you admit it's just your bias .... only 29 out of over 80 EPL centre backs rated above him .... feck that's a lot of crap players earning millions a year .... well according to you it is anyway.

I'm not saying any of our four relatively young centre backs are "world class" far from it, just that you calling them "inconsistent, physically weak, have poor balance and often fail to read the flight of the ball" is bias drivel, they simply wouldn't be EPL players if that was remotely true ... but then bias drivel is something you produce in spades.

Those things you quoted here, I said about Sanchez specifically.
And once more- last season provided numerous examples of all those. Just look at 2nd game against ManCity. Look at those goals and come back to say that this is acceptable level of defending - really - look and say that.

If you base quality of the players on Transfermarkt values, then you are absolutely full of crap.
Just described in long form how these values have errors.
If you honestly think that Fofana just magically became 4x the player in span of 9-10 months, then you just don't have any grasp of things at all and you just look numbers, not football.

So any player who has a few bad games is total crap - got it.
