Yes - 100% agree
massive waste of money having him sat there not playing. What can you do though? Use a player that isn't good enough or write off the loss. Luckily he only cost us £23m four years ago. So £5/6m a year... if we could get £5m that's an ok return if he really is surplus.
Doherty again was cheap (ish), surely we can get similar for him. Sure we've made a loss but if keeping them holds the team back we're better off without.
Question is if you had to keep one as the backup who would it be?

Aurier has always been a bad apple in the spurs camp. If you want to play football he could go out on loan even to a lower Premier club and not play against us. He's a money grabber
Incredible that some of our own fans still believe in Aurier and Ndombele when there isn’t another club in the world that even wants them on loan.
I’m not sure where we are with foreign players in the squad list but I guess one of Doherty, Aurier or Ndombele will have to be cut?

Is that true though? He seems well liked, he’s got as a fiddle - he just has ‘moments’ during games where he makes shocking decisions…. I can’t stand him, you can’t have full backs I don’t trust to do the basics but not sure on the bad apple

Tomiyasu is as good if not better than Emerson and is cheaper too. Strange after being linked all summer we decided against Tomiyasu.
