Not moving on Aurier or Doherty is a disaster.

However what I will say is those who think Emerson is going to be a stark improvement on Aurier could be in for a very rude awakening…

Yeah, there was no grandstand appointment, that is, unless you count the best defender in Serie A, and 2 of the hottest prospects in Europe in Gil, Sarr, as well as an fast, attacking RB who can speak same language as defs and mids and will give Aurier and Doc reasons to actually fucking focus.

Oh, also we kept the best striker in the league and locked down the best winger for a long term contract.

Tbf if Ndombelly is so desperate to leave, he should be willing to take a big paycut.

His ability on the ball (passing etc), his defensive nouse, and I think he's much less of a headless chicken when moving forward too.

Even though I've never been convinced about Sancho, you can't look at them and see Ronaldo, Sancho, Varane coming in as anything less than concerning. They weren't in the title race last season but did finish comfortably 2nd place.

Honestly, I'd say probably Chelsea as a striker who can score was really all they needed.

United and Villa a close second and third

Why? We weren’t able to get everything we needed but that’s the case for almost every club.

We have signed the best defender in Serie A to replace a washed up Toby. Our terrible second keeper has been replaced with someone much better. Lamela has been replaced with Gil, Emerson to replace Aurier. Sissoko has been binned. Sarr been signed for the future.

We weren’t able to get a striker and Ndombele having zero interest made it hard to get a midfielder. But overall we’ve moved out some donkeys and reduced the age of the squad with some exciting young players.

Maybe, but I think Ings was an excellent signing for them, as is Buendia. I guess jury out on the Leon Bailey signing but he could do very well for them.
