Put prime Eriksen in our side and we instantly become 15-20% better. The likes of Kane and Son are instantly better. One or two players can make a huge, huge different for any side.

We need players in a number of positions but we don't need anyone more than a creative midfielder right now. Someone in the James Maddison mould. Not him, but someone that can create from next to nothing and pick a pass. Then play Ndombele deeper, with Hodjberg holding.

I've have been saying we need an AM player for three years. Damsgaurd Kessie should be on the list generally. But we specifically need an attacking ball playing passing player who in particular I don't know.

Really hope we do a deal for Kessie in Jan... Even if it means not getting him til the summer.....

If we can get him in Jan, then great; if not do the deal anyway and bring Sarr back early and sweeten Metz with a few quid or a loan of one of our lads.

That was Fernandes job for us

I heard Liverpool and United are also interested in Kessie.
Also AC Milan have better chance of getting CL football, so may be a tough sell.

I'd go for the Kante style dominant defensive midfielder before anything. No point having creativity if everytime the opposition get the ball they stroll through our midfield.

Hojberg holding? He can't hold, he just waves his arms a lot.

Our entire midfield is a problem. But at least someone that can regularly get assists will help to get much more out of Kane and Son.

It has been for years. I'd rip it all up and start again. Sell the lot of them. We'd get a decent amount and then we can start again.

Defensive midfielder
Passer
Number 10 like eriksen/fernandes

The players will be out there who will come good, we just need to find them.

What we need entirely depends of the system/formation we are attempting to play moving foward (a DOF sould aid coherency of recruitment vision irrespective of Nuno or the next guy)....

Unless we are playing 4231 then a #10 isn't really what's required.

As far as I'm concerned we have PEH, Skipp & Sarr whom ought to serve us well as part of a pool of MFs moving foward (especially the latter 2 as they are young enough to mold to our needs).

Gio, Ndombele, Dele & Winks all ought to be seen as expendable at this point.

"Keep the fans happy. Release rumour of activity to improve the problem area."

Rinse. Repeat.
Yep.

Linked with a whole bunch of names all window all fall through then end up signing some 18-20 year old on the cheap or a loan to buy that nobody has heard of but who has a "promising future"

Then scratch head and wonder why we drift further and further into mid table obscurity

I was nodding away in agreement until I saw Ndombeles name mentioned

Agreed. I don't think any of our current choices are ideal. Skipp deserves more time to improve. Tanguy has the ability to be a first teamer if he ever gets his head right, which I simply don't think he's capable of. But the likes of Winks and Alii have to go, for their own sakes as well as ours. Lo Celso I'm unsure about but he just doesn't seem capable of putting a good run of form together. He'll have a good game and then a bunch of average ones.

Convenient take, but the irritating reality is that developing players has been far more fruitful for us than the players whom we've spent big fees on.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Romero blow up; just to buck that trend....?

Not sure I agree, we lucked out on Kane after sending him on 3-4 loans because we didn't buy a recognised striker and a manager gave him a crack due to a lack of options and he hit the ground running.

I don't recall that many players we successfully developed. I'm sure there are a few you can quote. But not enough to make a compelling argument for me at least.

I just don't think we are buying the correct players. We can't afford or attract the absolute top shelf items but we can be a lot shrewder than we are.

We need to buy proven players preferably from the premier league, Taking punts on players from inferior leagues is part of our problem, How many duds have we brought from the French league? It ought to come with a warning at this point.

We should have moved in for Ings and Traore in the summer Both no brainer signings that we could have had for reasonable money and would solve two of our issues.

Should have got Tielemans a couple of summers ago when we were linked with him, (yeah I know he goes against my rule about weak leagues)

The players we need are out there its just our current model & scouting is flawed.

Thought this lad looked exceptional vs Sevilla. Dahoud at Dormund seems to have really kicked on in the last year.

Hard to sign a Kante. When he's at his best Kante is near enough the only guy who can play like Kante.

Spurs academy - Hoddle, Crouch, Kane, Winks, Skipp, Sol Campbell, Tanganga, Walker-Peters, Bentaleb, Townsend, Ryan Mason, Caulker, Livermore

Not to mention the players we developed from young age such as Alli, Walker, Bale, Rose

Yeah, all shit. Our academy and coaches are rubbish. Let's buy more Ndombeles, Adebeyors, Lamelas and Soldados.

So don't go for Kante

I fully believe Wilmar Barrios would monster the likes of Kante the way Wanyama did.

The guy is exactly what we are desperate for. How did we scout him, then not go through with the £15million to buy him is one of Levy's many, many failings
