Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It would have been less about Kane's preferences, but that having those other clubs show interest would have likely 'encouraged' City to improve their bid.

It would have been better than the staring contest levy hosted and the shitty situation we are now in with a player who can't be guaranteed to put in his best on the pitch.

We've seen before with A.Sanchez, VVD, McGuire etc. that City won't crumble to bidding wars....

They bid what they were prepared to pay and then walked away..... Simple.

Poch would have benched him when he was shite if that was the case
Benched him for who?

The issue was a replacement not who we had to sub him with.

When we could've signed any player we wanted the summer after the champions league final and any club would've bought most players we had in our starting 11 if they were available, we decided against it.

Eriksen was past his peak, Kane was at his peak, Dele seemed to have his ceiling reached. Lucas we knew his ceiling. Son would dip in and out of form which is why people said he isn't world class.
Toby and Jan were old, LB needed improvement, so did RB. Winks and Sissoko started CM the following season.

We've absolute stood still at the time we needed to really push on and we're now further behind our goal than when poch first arrived. Further than when AVB was here. Further than Redknapp. Further than Martin Jol.

We are currently not a Top 4 club, we are not a Top 6 club on the last couple seasons. We need an entire rebuild and that includes all these names I've mentioned over the next year or two and make way for that core I mentioned before.

I've defend nothing in my post. You just seem to have got carried away with your own thinking and thrown some of the basic facts out of the window.

Calling for "blank cheques" FFS..... You think that deserves to be taken seriously?

Again.... Stick to what's being said to you...... My post didn't make claims about how well or otherwise I think we're run.

Notable you can't offer a direct counter-point to any of the specific comments I made.... You just hrew a bunch of barely connected what-about-ism up in the air.

By all means try again if you wish.

Ok so other than the blank cheque point re mark being OTT (fair enough) what's your actual point?

Your doing a lot of talking without saying much. Are you happy with how we are run? do you think Levy and Lewis do all they can can for the football side of things? Because I responded that just because we are run "self sufficiently" doesn't mean we can't be run well like Leicester have been. And that smaller clubs who shouldnt be able to spend as much as us are and seem to be catching us up

And I'm sure there are plenty or people who would love to buy the club but we know that Lewis and Levy ain't leaving the gravy train anytime soon, so wouldn't matter if I had Bazos on speed dial.

For me we should have without selling Kane got a young progressive manager known for a attractive brand off football in and given him serious funds (not a blank cheque) not including any made from sales to build a identity within the side. We should have shifted more deadwood then we did and we need to overhaul the scouting side of things

Instead what we did was get rejected by a host of managers because it was obvious they where getting asked to achieve serious targets with little to no changes. Agree a deal with a manager only to pull the plug at the last minute because we thought Poch might be available or because the new DOF didn't like him. Only to end up with a bloke who was available from the start but we didn't want who was rejected by two clubs below us in standing and supposed financial ability

The recruitment was bare minimum again as it's been for at least 6 years and we kept to many average players

Benched him for who?

The issue was a replacement not who we had to sub him with.

Poch had Jansen (Personally spoke of Poch talking him to the club) & Llorente (14 goals for a shit Swansea team the year before) and rapidly marginalised them both.

Granted Jansen was a bust, but Llorente should have been used a whole lot better.

We did no transfer business following the CL final?

.......This is very much news to me.

We broke our TRF record on Ndombele and spent 130m on incomings; much of which was to revamp the MF.

Meanwhile:

Tripper was sold.
Toby had his cheap release clause but no-one took a bite.
Eriksen was up for sale..... No interest. Sold the following January.
Rose was up for sale.... Wouldn't budge.
Wanyama was up for sale.... Wouldn't budge.
Serge was up for sale.

Ok so other than the blank cheque point re mark being OTT (fair enough) what's your actual point?

My points were v.short and concise..... They shouldn't need explaining.

The rest; TL/DR..... I've no desire to have a generalised 'state of the club' debate with you. As I already stated; my post did not attempt to debunk nor defend our decline... So you going down that path and accusing me of doing so is un-necessary.

Re-cap:

1. You complained about lack of investment >>>>>> We are one of of a number of clubs who are run to be self-sufficient. Come to terms with that.... It won't change unless we get a sugar-daddy owner.

2. You said ENIC would rinse all the stadium revenue >>>>>> If ENIC pocket all the stadium revenue be sure to provide evidence of this IF it happens and I'll jump right on board and criticise them..

3. "Blank cheque" >>>> Since retracted on your part. 👍

He's 28, but he peaked years ago. That's the problem. Although I feel he is carrying too much weight, all this talk that he is not trying doesn't really ring true for me. He has to manage his energy now. All this stuff was going on last season, too.
Value wise he peaked years ago. But he is still one of the best finishers and most talented footballers in the league. He looks average at Spurs because everyone would with that little behind him.

Your "points" where having a go at what I said without offering any form of actual debate

Then proceeding to tell me to have another go then when I responded to you your response is TLDR

What a plonker

And do you think they wouldn't pay the 75m for VVD in hindsight when compared to the 57m they paid for Laporte? Without VVD Liverpool wouldn't have been a contender talk less of winning the PL or CL. Can you imagine a Dias + VVD pairing for City?

I don't believe City made their best offer in the summer and interests from other clubs would have made them either increase the bid or add players to sweeten it.

Levy screwed it up with his hard ball and the current situation will likely cost us more than the 20-30m he wanted to squeeze out of city.

The aim should have been to get the maximum for Kane and sell him asap

This has literally fuck all to do with it.

Well you can conjure up whatever idea you want in your head, but it's not much of a basis for an argument.

and interests from other clubs would have made them either increase the bid or add players to sweeten it.

We've come full circle. IGnoring basic facts won't change the reality.

Harry didn't want a move abroad.
Chavs - Just not gonna happen.
Utd. - Evidently they had other ideas/priorities.

Levy screwed it up with his hard ball and the current situation will likely cost us more than the 20-30m he wanted to squeeze out of city.

Merely, back to your imagination again.

You think we should have sold him.... Fine. Of course, you're welcome to an opinion.

Absolutely. He was never going to go to Chelsea but what was the harm in Levy leading Chelsea up the garden path on it, to up the bid from Citeh. Instead as you said, we had this long staring contest after the line is put out at the start that ‘we don’t do business with Chelsea’.

What the hell do you mean?

The club didn't make such a statement in the summer... It's just been common knowledge for close to 20 years.

And there was me thinking we knocked Ajax and City out the CL without Kane.

Yet we couldn’t bench him?

The club said as much by their silence. Kane made it clear he wanted out when he went babbling to Gary Neville back in April. It derailed what were still live prospects of making the UEFA Cup. Forcing a player to stay against his wishes never works out on the field. Levy obviously had the whip hand with the 6 year contract. Kane shiuld
Have been put up for sale with the message that we’re talking to all interested parties and prepared to do business with everyone.

I think you are cherry-picking, my dear man.

Have a look at Kane trotting around the place in our last NLD.

In every clip there Son is barely even walking. Moura is mostly doing nothing, I was struggling to pick out who was who, but mostly no one was doing anything.
The squad is shit. It's at that point now where I'm so fed up with the same old dross that even the very limited few that may have something about them can fuck off for all I care.

Seems to be that about 30 different players and five managers at domestic and international level are all responsible for Kane’s form

Most talented player in the PL but no one wants to buy him. Odd

The club said "we don't deal with Chelsea" by virtue of their silence?

What fluff exactly are you peddling here?

Kane made it clear he wanted out when he went babbling to Gary Neville back in April. It derailed what we’re still live prospects of making the UEFA Cup. Forcing a player to stay against his wishes never works out on the field.

Modric. ("One more year and not to Chavs")

There are examples of others be that here or at other clubs.....

Grealish also comes to mind. (the previous summer "Please stay and get us promoted")

Levy obviously had the whip hand with the 6 year contract.

A club statement (followed by a DOF statement) was that he wasn't for sale.

.....So the club weren't "silent" regardless.

Perhaps we were staunch about that... Perhaps not; but in negotiation parlance that tends to means "you best bid high because I'm not actively looking to sell".

Kane shiuld have been put up for sale with the message that we’re talking to all interested parties and prepared to do business with everyone.

Like I said to the other fella; if you think we should have sold; that's your prerogative..... An opinion that you 're only too welcome too.

None of what you're saying establishes the notion that there'd have been a bidding war tho.
