Inter spent 235m euros his first two windows. It was literally the 7th largest negative spend rate in world football. They sold Lukaku because they were going broke and couldn't pay their wages. Then Conte bolts because he doesn't care about the club's financial stability.

Every purchase made under Conte was a decent one, if not a great one. They made money on all the big signings they made and could make more on the guys they still have that they bought.

Inter is "in trouble" because the owners have issues in their non-football businesses and changes in China.

I wish we could be so awful financially that we could buy players win the title and then sell them on for massive increases.

It is laughable to try and blame Inter's financial issues on Conte.

Good posts mate. However, it's all moot because apparently, with Levy running the show, the likes of Graham Potter don't want to come to Spurs. So no wonder Conte told us to do one.

Yes there was no chance that Levy was going to give up the control necessary to get a good manager let alone a great one like Conte. And there are legitimate reasons to have questions about Conte and his fit here but claiming he would demand too much money is not one of them.

The figure of speech should have some accuracy.

Blame the person who coined it then or just accept you are on a English forum, supporting an English club and that you will hear English turns of phrase from time to time.

If I'd have meant Bankrupt, I'd have said "Bankrupt".

His spending at Inter hasn't been poor

I didn't say it was "poor".

or ridiculously high.

I didn't say it was "ridiculous" either.

Perhaps go and read back.

He works with teams and has a history of integrating players deemed poor or not good enough previously rather than just demand they are replaced with high priced alternatives.

Not denying he's a good coach.

....Yet spends a lot regardless.

He left because he felt pissed off with management, like most Inter fans, not because they wouldn't hand him a mountain of cash.

Again... Respond to what my post actually said please.

After backing him; couldn't he stay and fight alongside the players and fans.....?

The fire-sale wasn't as extreme as the media suggested it might be anyway.

He just won the Serie A and felt the way forward was to build on that not tear it down. The same feeling 90% of the footballing world would have as well.

Let's just ignore the financial effects of Covid on the league and club though, yeh?

Shiny buttons.

Yes he moaned and he won.

He moaned the moment his very first window closed.... After they'd barely kicked a ball!!!!

He earned the right to moan by winning the PL title.

See above..... Moaning preceded the title..... They then spent big again the following summer; got 5th and left.

He took what was given to him and won.

See above..... Stay on point please.

Not disputing he did a good job by winning the title.

You earn some credit when that happens.

See above..... You doing a particularly poor job here Iggy.....

No-one said he doesn't deserve credit for his titles.....

My only point here is that his spending demands would be beyond our reach.

I would love to look at the manager who has the success that he does that isn't "high spending"/high maintenance.

Moot..... It's not a criticism; it's just what makes him out of reach for our revenue levels.

still not sure Conte is the answer but I fear Levy has done so much damage to our reputation (some justified, some not) that getting a top coach with integrity and staying power is highly unlikely.

A young coach with his wits about him is unlikely to risk his career. This means we're looking at damaged good, Like Jose and Nuno but this doesn't work.

There's only so many times you can act like a wanker before your mates stop meeting you down the pub... I fear we could close to that stage now
I'm of the opinion, (and it sickens me), that the only realistic way forward is to allow the club to continue its slide until there is no more profit to be had. Then, and only then will ENIC lose interest and contemplate selling. Whilst we are in the PL and turning a modest profit, it's not going to happen. The worst thing about this is it will make our fans want to lose just to bring this about. What an awful predicament. Wanting your team to lose. Hateful I know but what's the alternative? These money grubbing leeches are going nowhere and money/land development are their ONLY real interests.
Announce Bezos! Let him know that for the price of one spaceshot, he can own the best football team in the world. And there's definitely a profit in that!

My concern is that ENIC is making so much money outside of the club in real estate and putting on events, that they no longer need to worry about the decline of the football team. They already seem to have solidified their spot in the ESL and that is really where the big money is for them.

I think they would like to finish top 4 and get that CL money in but they have shown they are not willing to make the decisions to do that like other clubs do.

And to think Erik ten Hag was turned down because he didn’t “interview” well....... ahahahah Levy more interested in PR managers, makes sense why he hired Nuno “wE gUnNa MaKe U pRoUd” Santo.

Can you provide a link to the Ten Hag story. I heard we choose AVB because of how he interviewed. Odd way to choose a manager, it’s not a banking job, Klopp could be shit in interviews but I would take him anyway.

That is a legitimate argument. I think that him and Levy would be a disaster pairing and it likely would be very short term but I would rather have him and take the chance it works out rather than Nuno and knowing it won't work out.

I also think the solution is if Conte and Levy don't work together then get rid of Levy the sad fuck that has won nothing and keep the manager who wins wherever he goes.
You could have been describing Jose in your last paragraph

Apparently BFS is mustard in interviews which was why he was appointed England manager

Surely the purpose of an interview is that you employ them if it feels right or don't hire them if it feels wrong.....?

Funny reading this tho'.... Amongst other things; apparently we were perplexed by him not wanting to bring his own backroom staff. Yet, apparently Conte wanting to bring his own scarpered derailed that deal.... Amazing the contradictory bollocks one reads in search of the truth innit.
