Surely the purpose of an interview is that you employ them if it feels right or don't hire them if it feels wrong.....?

Funny reading this tho'.... Amongst other things; apparently we were perplexed by him not wanting to bring his own backroom staff. Yet, apparently Conte wanting to bring his own scarpered derailed that deal.... Amazing the contradictory bollocks one reads in search of the truth innit.
So Ten Hag not good enough because he didn’t want to bring staff in, Conte not good because he wanted too many..... but Nuno is perfectly fine because he brought enough staff in..... ironically the worst manager by far out of the three

Like I say.... Pinch of salt.....I particularly don't buy either end of the tale.

Lets assume it was true that ETH 'failed' the interview.... Only those in the inner circle would be party to the details and they're not gonna start leaking micro-details.

At most, word that he didn't impress circulates by putting 2 & 2 together based on the fact that he was known to inerview and yet didn't get the job. The gaps are just likely filled in by journo's that have no real reputation/credibility to lose to begin with.

I wanted Benitez in the summer as I had realistic expectations and knew we were never going to get the likes of Conte, that was all transparent bollox to sell a few more season tickets.

Now that Benitez is at Everton, think I'm on the Potter train.

Yes, but we could have had Conte.

That's the frustrating part about all this. We could have had a world class manager in charge, but we didn't want to pay world class money. And that's all on Levy

I don't think it was as close as people think, for me there is no coincidence with the fact that the Conte talk was right up until ST renewal and then it transpired we weren't getting him. I don't think he was ever going to come to a club with such a lack of ambition where he couldn't decide on the players he wanted.

Was always a smokescreen as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely, but these deluded morons won’t get it through their heads... b bb bbbbUt We CaN’t SpEnD tOo MuCh aT sPuRs wE’rE nOt CiTy

We need to fucking spend and spend a lot if we want to leave this pile of shit squad behind and not fall miles behind the main contenders. Otherwise mediocrity awaits.

We are about to get over £100 million of match day revenue by the end of the season. The money (including the tv money) will be there to spend. There will be zero excuses in the summer not to.

Inter spent 235m euros his first two windows. It was literally the 7th largest negative spend rate in world football. They sold Lukaku because they were going broke and couldn't pay their wages. Then Conte bolts because he doesn't care about the club's financial stability.
They are owned by a company that is going belly up and you know that. It's well publicised.

I don't think it was even as complicated or devious as that.

Conte has worked with Paratici (and other DOFs) before.

People always seem to come up with the "Season ticket hype" theory at many a club..... WH's lot complain about it every year and often the Goona too..... Dybala was allegedly another instance for us even though we weren't linked til after the ST deadline.

I think we simply had a sniff cos he was available....

Spurs: "Hey Tony... You fancy North London?"
Conte: "How much can I spend?"
Spurs: "Let's discuss...."
Conte: "Etc. Etc."
Spurs: "Sorry mate... Not gonna work for us... Cheers tho'."
