Assuming we can get a better coach, I am still Nuno out. That debacle against Woolwich is still very fresh in my mind, we allowed an average team to dominate us.

For now, he has at least changed tactics a little bit and we were more creative against Villa. Would love him to prove me wrong and go on to do great things with the club, but I just don't really believe that he will.

Having said that, who else is there to take the job right now? Conte is out of work, but I don't see him taking over and if he did, I would assume he'd want a summer transfer window to work with. Potter isn't going to leave Brighton right now, again, maybe in the summer. Who are the other candidates that would take the job right now, rather than the summer?

We did the same last season there under Mourinho.
We also went ahead there and then capitulated under Poch in 2018 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46333099
And then next year we threw away a 2-0 lead there

The fact is, we keep going there, often as the favourite, and failing to show up. And Nuno, the 3rd coach to try and get them to show up has failed.

The guy has made so many fundamental, inexcusable errors with selections, substitutions and formations I have almost zero confidence in him. One decent result at home doesn't change much, but was nice to finally see Beardy pick the right bloody team and formation - which has been obvious to most of us for weeks.

He remains the wrong man for the job and a temporary stop-gap.
He does seem to be picking his team by trial and error. He managed to get it right on Saturday but it might have just been luck...! Let's hope not. Still unconvinced but also still open minded.

What meltdown.

He still fucking started the fucking NLD without midfield. He still stood there like pathetic piece of shit when our beloved Spurs were ripped apart by our archrival.

How pathetic you have to be to forgive such humiliation after 1 narrow and nervy win against bottom half team at home ?!?!
We allowed them to come back to game, there were significant periods where they played better then us, and we faced 14 shots out of which 3 were on target. AT HOME. Against bottom half / relegation fodder team.

Of course I am happy if Spurs win a game. I want us to win every game we play. And 3 points in the bag are important.

But yesterday was not nearly enough to convince me that this manager has in him what we need.
This x 1000%

He still hasn't got his own song has he...?
Worrying times... even GG had "man in the raincoat's blue and white army..."

although had to win us the League Cup to get THAT accolade!

I feel NES is gonna be another Ramos or Santini.... never QUITE gets the fans onside, despite being a decent enough bloke.

If you think the Villa game changes my mind , your wrong
and if you've changed ur mind over that game then u are a flip flop

He's not a good coach. He played a Villa team that didn't really play that great yesterday. And yesterday he finally played a good formation but what we are in october and he got appointed in July.

Every team can have 1 good game. If we play good football for the next months then my stance will change but as a coach Nuno is a negative limited coach and he's not right for us. I'm still Nuno out because well I was never Nuno in.

Graham and Ramos, 2 of the worst coaches we've had and the only 2 to bring something home.

Team plays as well as the opposition lets them. Villa didn't play their best, because we were much more composed - look at our game vs Woolwich, they played their best game in very, very long period, media said it's their rebirth, top 4 incoming yadda yadda and then they got smashed by Brighton, I watched that game and they did literally nothing besides defending. xG Potter was again let down by his forwards, it should have been 3-0.
Point is, we made Woolwich look like Barcelona, and we made Villa look not so good, where in fact they are decent team. Nuno got it much better, but it's his job, it should look this way as we are better team, and shitshow vs Woolwich should have never happened. But at least it's a step forward and he still needs to do better that this.

He can correct the mistake against the gooners by completely decimating them on their own turf when next we meet. Anything less will not be acceptable.

Fucking depressing.

Going back to Nuno, that first half against the gooners was just the cherry on the cake really. We don't play with any control, I feel like the only game where we had some control was the 1-0 win over Watford and even that was hard work.

City game we rode our luck but did pretty well. It's City, so that's just how it goes. No problem.

Wolves dominated us, if they could finish they would have won the game.

Watford I already mentioned.

Palace, bizzare selection and we were again, bossed around in this game.

Chelsea, we had a 20 minute spell where we did ok, but created little. Opposition tactical adjustment and we were anihilated.

Woolwich - amongst the worst 45 minutes of football I have seen in my years supporting Spurs, that 1st half. Just pathetic in every regard.

Villa - won the game, created chances, no real complaints. But we didn't dominate, we never had total control of the game, we did well on the bits and pieces, both in defence and attack

Overall, I don't see Nuno getting much out of this bunch. So far, on our best days we can squeek a narrow win and on our worst days, we get absolutely spanked.

You'd honestly think we had beaten a top 4 side comfortably in their own backyard, not sneaked a win at home vs an inconsistent Villa side. Under normal circumstances people would react to that performance with a 'not great, but 3 points!' but the bar is practically on the damn floor at this point.

Still not exactly dominant or free-flowing, but a massive improvement over how horrible we've been in this regard all season. Work to do, but that is progress. I know quite a few people on here hate xG but it really is the best way to objectively look at how many decent opportunities a team is carving out.

The OG is not included in that total - with that it's probably around 2.4 for Spurs, which is our best xG of the season so far.

One match doesn't mean much, but do it for against Newcastle and West Ham and we may be onto something.

Is it not? Fair enough.

And yeah, that's exactly what we need. If we can follow up the terrible Palace, Chelsea and Woolwich results with 3 decent wins on the bounce, we're in business. I thought we were good but not great vs Villa, but certainly some signs we're not a total lost cause.

Romero's the biggest bright spot for me from it. Clearly has more quality in him than any of our other cb options. Emerson did well too, although his delivery left something to be desired. Certainly some room for optimism though.

I disagree. Other than their opening day loss to Watford they have looked good. Wins over Utd and Everton were both good and they were competitive versus Chelsea.

Whether they had a bad day against us or couldn’t handle us is debatable. I favour the latter.

They finished 11th last season and have lost their best player. One of the players meant to replace him was on the bench, the other injured. They are like any mid table side, and will get some good results (United) and some bad ones (Watford). Inconsistency is why they'll be in a similar position this season.

We played reasonably well, but I'm not sure what you imagine they 'couldn't handle' about us. We hardly played some relentless pressing game or countered ruthlessly. We actually started very slowly, but Villa weren't up to much and we grew in to the game.

It was an improved game, with some solid positives (Emerson & Romero especially) and I'm sure Nuno learned a few things about the squad. Like the fact that Skipp/Hojbjerg is clearly our best midfield platform, and should have been starting against Woolwich. If the 'Nuno out' crowd are going to be proved wrong though, that's gonna take a hell of a lot more than a 2-1 win at home to a pretty poor Villa.

So you're saying we were bad and made Woolwich look good. But we were good and made Villa look bad?
not sensing any double standards or hypocrisy there at all.
