Vardy is 34, I imagine any young player coming in fancies his chances pretty soon!
To be fair he looks after himself and will continue to score goals for the next few years. He doesn't quite have the explosive pace he once had but he isn't showing any signs at all of finishing his career or having to drop some levels yet. Give him chances and he'll score.
That's fair, but as a guy arriving at 23 you're probably fancying the 34 year old leading the line will need rest on a regular basis, and also probably fancying you're chances of replacing him in the lineup within a season or two.
He may be wrong. But I'd say you're more likely to get gametime as a backup to Vardy than you are if you're a backup to Kane.
Yeah, I don't see Vardy as an automatic starter every week these days. But there's still plenty of football left in him, even at Premier League level. Though if Daka performs anything like he did today for them consistently he might find himself on the bench a bit more often!
