Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Forget defensive reinforcements until the summer (except RWB which I class as an attacking addition).

Focus on getting a RWB, ST and creative CM this window. Get 2 of the 3 and I would consider that a success.

A right wing back (not Traore!) and creative central midfielder able to work in Conte's system now and a pre-agreement with a striker (meaning Vlahovic) to arrive in the Summer would be a great window.

I see the RWB as a top priority this winter window as the rest of the defense can until the summer (unless a great opportunity comes along).
I’d let Doherty go, and keep Emerson until the summer (unless an unexpected, crazy bid comes in for him). I know half-a-season is a short time to judge a player but there is “something” about Emerson that makes me sense his style is (much) better suited for the EPL or Seri A or even the Bundesliga.
The present RWB Spurs prospects – i.e., Dermi Lusala, Jubrli Okedina, Marcel Lavenier, Tanganga – are not short-time solutions either: Lusala being only 18 and he’s been injury-prone which has halted his development (as a football player); Okedina is 20 and Lavinier 21, and neither seem to be near the 1st team squad. And Tanganga is not RWB material really (I would keep him as understudy CB).

My first choice is Tino Livramento. English, home-grown, only 19, taken the EPL by storm BUT… Chelski has a £40m buy-back option (with its terms that no one in this forum, including me, seem to know much about). So not very likely he’ll end up at Spurs.

So my second choice would be 1 of these players (all of them coming with their pros and cons that I won’t bother to point out here and now and, of course, subject to scrutiny - like personality traits - that I do not have access to):

Adama Traore
Sergiño Dest
Nordi Mukiele
Tariq Lamptey
Noussair Mazraoui
Ridle Baku
Lukas Klostermann
Joakim Mæhle

As understudy RWB I’d choose 1 of these:

Max Aarons
Jayden Bogle
Festy Ebosele

Yeayea, that is the reason why we did not get Kounde. Not that Chelsea being in the CL also failed in his pursuit as well.

Loads more articles saying the same thing if you care to Google.

Deal was agreed in principal with Sevilla but the player knocked us back due to lack of CL.

Chelsea interest came late in the window...... IIRC they failed to agree a price with Sevilla.

Over past few years Woolwich has signed Aubameyang, Partey, Pepe, Lacazette who all held international reckonition... 3rd shelf my arse...

Pepe? REALLY? LOL

1 out of the 4 I'd give you and he (PEA) was bought at a time when it was still considered an anomaly for Arse not be in the CL.

You're talking about players that had no other suitors at the excessive price Arse were willing to pay..... In fact no other active interest at all in the case of Partey & Pepe.... Neither of whom I'd consider either Elite nor the shelf below..... PEA being 2nd shelf at the time due to age..... Lacazette another on the line between 2nd and 3rd tier who was still playing for a French also-ran at the time despite his advancing age.

Okay, Leicester and West Ham are not the best examples of buying big names. But first is good example of how to generally buy players. I mean not to buy big names but to make big names out of almost-no-name players. That is also where our best deals have come from.

All our biggest singings in terms of fee have been total failures. Literally in terms of fees paid, first 6 are been either massive flops or just flops.
So not having CL is very convinient excuse, but given our background and history, I doubt it makes much difference. Improving our scouting ability is 10x bigger issue.

Proceeding to chat about scouting has virtually nothing to do with big name and so-called top shelf players so it is what it is.

The fact is playing in the CL still very much matters to the vast majority of top tier players. Esp. if they are already established as a so-called CL player.

Considering the amount of rungs on the proverbial ladder, to say the top 2 tiers aren't typically available to a ECL team isn't a radical (nor risible) statement.

You make it sound like I've claimed we can attract no one of quality..... Far from it.

I don't get the impression there is much business that will get done this window for most teams apart from pre-contracts. Even Newcastle may struggle. Happy to proved wrong of course.

Someone ran a algorithm to find wingbacks that are the most similar to Hakimi and came up with this.
An interesting name here is Ola Aina,
A London born Nigerian international. Aina came up at Chelsea and actually got his League Cup and Premier League debuts under Conte while Chelsea boss. So Aina would be classed as a homegrown.
He currently plays for Torino and spent the previous season on loan at Fulham. He has a contract until 2023 with Torino.
Thanks for jogging my memory.
Aina caught my eye playing for Fulham and was surprised he did not stay in the division after they got relegated.

I've seen on twitter people aski g for Trippier. He is 31 years old and Atletico is willi g to sell him in January which says he's shit nowadays. People are weird.

get an old head on loan til the summer and give Kane a rest every now and then

Fabregas is a known prick and bullshitter looking for a whinge because a manager didnt think he was gods gift.
Likewise dont worry about me. Ill talk to my family here while you live your sad little troll life in a basement living your life through this trying to convince spurs fans Kane is the worst thing since the plague.
I Never put anyone on ignore but sick of your trolling as many here are. Bye bye bellend. Dont let the damp get into your chest now in the basement
