Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Liverpool close to signing Luis Diaz to prevent their attack from going stale. Just like they signed Jota a couple of seasons ago despite having the best frontline in the world.

Meanwhile we are happy to run Kane and Son into the ground and look for “backups” to them.

Conte needs to stop being a one trick pony with this wingback stuff and find a system we ca use right now
System hasn’t harmed us in the league so far. Cups have just been a mess when our depth has been exposed. Issue is that there really isn’ta system that suits what we have until we refresh the squad, because we’ve got a squad made up of players bought for Pochettino’s, Mourinho’s and Nuno’s respective visions and all three were wildly different.

Perhaps, but given the issues with our squad and the tough run of games we have coming up, and how somehow we find ourselves in a top 4 race against all prior expectations.
Surely it would be better for us to get it done earlier?

Unless there is some rule I am unaware of that prevents clubs from sounding out other clubs about transfers and getting everything in place ready for the window to open?

There are multiple parties to a transaction, so it requires them all to agree to a deal happening at any particular time.

For example its quite common for players to talk to several clubs at a time, and its only once they have agreed terms with one club, we hope Spurs, that a deal can get done .... and with the 'delay' caused by the player (understandably) wanting to talk to several clubs, the deal cannot be done on day 1 and can be a number of weeks after the start of the transfer window. And if you look at when deals get announced, there are more at the end of a Window than at a start for that type of reason.

There are exceptions of course, Luka Modric was announced on a Sunday (if I recall correctly) before the window had opened when he moved to Spurs. But they are the minority

Conte won't change his system and I hope not because he's winner. He know a lot more about football than us.
Certainly knows vastly more about Italian football than us.

The squad he had at the Chavs rightly won the league, but they were by far and away the best squad in the league. He then managed to ruin them at a cost of a quarter of a billion.

If Paratici/Levy can't get deals done for at least 2 players who can improve the first XI, this month, then they need to fucking give it up. And Paratici needs to up his game, no more fucking Emerson or Gollini bollocks signings. Give Conte the tools he needs.

Being American and only a soccer fan from since I retired four years ago I used to read transfer articles and take them seriously. Didn't take long, though, to realize how seldom any of them turned into reality. I honestly think a very high percentage of this stuff is made up out of whole cloth. The worst is the ones that start off "Spurs are told..." and it's always ends up being an opinion of some retired player or obscure commentator. Conte makes one supportive remark about Lukaku and suddenly he's in Spurs plans?
I think we've all been there, dude. Nowadays when I see a headline I rarely bother as there is hardly any substance in them. But what I find useful is when some players I hadn't heard of before get linked to Spurs. And, sometimes - although rarely - there is some fire that caused the smoke..
At first, when ITK first hit the internet I used to believe all of it ....then most of it ...and then less and less (although I still think some of the ITK-people can be trusted somehow

I guess he's not good enough then. Let's sack him and bring in someone else huh?
Alternatively how about we keep our nappies dry and not wet them that someone, successful at other clubs has turned up at ours.

Let me think, was there a guy called Mourinho once at Spurs??

Let's judge him on what he does here, not at other clubs at other points in time.

Huh?
