So do you think N'Dombele is worth right now what we paid for him? What about Sanchez? Lo Celso? Sess?
We've made enough mistakes in recent years by spending money poorly (or perhaps in some cases just getting unlucky) - if we spunked £400m on shit players you'd be the first one moaning about it in 2 years time when we're skint and have a worse squad than we have now. We can do without any more N'dombele types. We need the right players at prices that are not too ridiculous in order to ensure that we can strengthen again in the summer, and next year, and the following year, and on it goes.
We all hope for some incoming signings, of course we do, but if we spunked £400m on players now just because we can do so within FFP rules, I'd have serious concerns about the financial future of the club (and like it or not, without a financial future, there's no future of any kind).

It might depend on how much Conte likes Romero. If Romero is seen as a first team player and we used Sanchez to help get an upgrade for left centre-back, it'd make sense. I think the speculation in the summer was Sanchez + cash for Kounde, Sevilla were happy but the player didn't want to go. Whether any of that has changed (or was true in the first place!) I don't know.
I do think it makes sense for Emerson to be developed to play on the right side of the back 3 though, at least under Conte. As a backup player there, who can also be moved to wing-back, he'd perform a good function in the squad.
