Interesting comments from Conte about Ndombele.

I do wonder if players who are signed with add ons are sometimes benched in order to avoid paying the add ons.
He's obviously not lived up to the hype. The reports suggest he cost up to £60m with add ons. What are those add ons?
Of course they are - it happens all the time. My only hope is that the add-ons equate to 50M under the "is not a fraud" paragraph.

Can you become bald again after a hair transplant due to stress?

Woolwich linked with that kid Arthur at Juve. I remember him being unreal the night that Barcelona beat us at home in the Champions League.

Why does every other club seem to sign obviously good players who can fit clearly into their team. And we don’t.

When we do spend money, it always seems to lack logic. Why did we sign both Tanguy and Gio when they obviously could never play in the same 11.

Why did we sign a Bryan when we have no intention of playing a left sided winger?

Why did we sign Royal when we have Tanganga ?

Why did we sign Stevie B when the one position we’ve always been stacked with is inside forwards.

Even with Romero you could make the case that what we really needed was a left sided centre half.

Why did we sign a Bryan when we have no intention of playing a left sided winger? High resale value ceiling low wages.

Why did we sign Royal when we have Tanganga ? Wages.

Why did we sign Stevie B when the one position we’ve always been stacked with is inside forwards. PLayed well against us once.

Even with Romero you could make the case that what we really needed was a left sided centre half. When have we had Romero? lolz

Don’t take links as gold dust, it’s silly season. I’m willing to bet the goons sign no one in January

I think it is plain to see that the squad needs an overhaul. I also think it is at least naive and at worst completely delusional to think this window will provide us with an opportunity to do it. Those of you who think, in the 13 days previous, we could have signed and bedded in players who would’ve made any difference to the Chelsea result/s are a bit thick.

I look back at the quote from Poch in 2015 when he said something to the affect of “we are ahead of our expected progress” and really see it as a watermark moment that has since skewed a broad perception of trajectory, achievement and acceptable performance across the whole spectrum of those involved with the club. From those that run it, to those that support it. Realistically, the needles on the gauge of the ownership are moving back more conservatively and that of the (wider) supporter base are pushing more ambitiously… which is as understandable as it is infuriating.

I will say that I have largely been of the opinion that ENICs ownership has been more beneficial than not. I have lamented many decisions and fumed over the lack of others… but If you objectively view the “growth” of the club over the period… I still feel that way and there is little you can say to sway my opinion. Many a fan of other clubs would say the same, which I am equally happy to “poo-poo” but the fact remains that, with all of their faults, we have progressed. The grass is always greener… and we could have easily ended up with a piss stained paddock of dry chaff, trying to stay mid-table.

That said, I must that my patience is wearing thin. Bargain signings, inexcusable holes in the squad, merry-go-round managerial appointments and a lack of awareness have us very quickly on the precipice of riot. In the appointment of Conte, Levy has afforded himself a very brief moment of something resembling grace to correct our trajectory and rejoin the path Poch set us on…. But it needs to be done.

2-3 signings would be great (honestly think it will be 1-2, and also don’t rate Adama at all) but think the blade should fall at the end of the Summer window, and then only.

Tanguy was the replacement we needed for Ndombele, but it hasnt worked that way.

We needed competition for Eriksen in Lo Celso, but he turned out to be more of a Lamela.

Gil is a future prospect, but agree it wasn't one that we needed yet.

Tanganga is dreadful. Emerson was the leading right back in La Liga last season, and I think the board tried to capitalise on Barca's financial issues.

Bergwijn was an opportunist signing. A highly sought after player, young and his price dropped.

Romero.. He was hugely needed. He was a very good capture for the club, and when he is fit you'll see that.

100% agree. Whatever tombola the recruitment staff are using seems to be broken. We didn't sign Tomiyasu because of Tanganga's early season form (allegedly).

We do spend money, OK maybe not as much as some would like, but we just seems to consistently spend it so fucking badly it's not even funny anymore.

No and then Yes.

Tanganga is a kid who needs a leader beside him and I think he's being thrown under the bus at the moment. I don't think Conte would have picked him last night if he didn't believe.
