Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Barca and Juve have made loan offers for Aubameyang. Juve depends on getting Morata gone.

Which him end up at Woolwich, and we again end up with no one.

We will be generally used to flush out the bigger clubs when we express an interest in the more proven players so no surprise Diaz signs for a better option . We are not attractive to any top player even with Conte everyone knows how the owners operate and that trumps everything else .

Precisely.

Which is why I laugh whenever anyone suggests we should wait until the summer as X or Y player is out of contract.
Like none of the big boys will snap any players worth a light up.

To get those players we needed to be buying them out of their short contracts

I think the general theme surrounding players like Kessie, Dybala, De Vrij or whoever isn't that we should wait til the summer; it's the fact that we may be forced wait if we want them as the parent clubs likely won't want to sell whilst they still have their own aims to play for.

i.e.
Kessie / AC / Title challenge.
Dybala / Juve / Desperate top 4 push
De Vrij / INter / Title challenge.

10m now rather than zero in the summer makes plenty of sense for us (even more so when additonal signing on fees are considered); but the parent club's have their own very decisive say in that.

.......It's very annoying that so many people with more than enough intelligence to do so; opt not to recognise this.

There's plenty to take issue with Levy with, but not sure what more could be done about Diaz if what is been widely reported is true that we were meeting transfer fee and wage demands.

Once you're outside the European Cup places, any player on the move is going to opt for the guarantee of a club who are inside that particular tent.

We're left scouting around for players in the £20-30 million category, who due to our shit scouting policy (that's on Levy) invariably don't work out.

When you spend over £50 million on a player, you should be getting a finished product, serious operator. We've only every gone into that bracket once and we end up with Ndomebele. Enough said.

Who knows, but I bet that a player could be convinced if you go in with a very strong initial bid to show how much he's wanted by the club. And also as a symbol of clear financial power and ambition for the future.

Instead we go in with a derisory bid that had all of us laughing. If we found it ridiculous, I wonder how he'd view it.

I think you'll find that the general theme surrounding them is that we won't be signing them this month, in the summer , or in any transfer window outside of an FM save or Fifa Ultimate Team...

It’s really disappointing that we repeat the same mistakes over and over. Waiting until the end of the window and missing out on the players we need. As a result, we face missed opportunities as the team isn’t competitive. This first became obvious when we were trying to secure top 4 for the first time, again under Redknapp, and again and again since. We once pulled off a blinder with VDV, but that’s a long fucking time ago.

I hope there is a grander plan afoot, and Conte is properly backed with a restructuring of the team this summer. Then we can really see what he can do.

Problem is, is fans are likely to protest. That’s going to be ugly and put off players from joining us.

Signs are not currently looking good for our club.
