I can imagine that winning the league with Rangers is a more interesting prospect than going on loan to a midtable team in the PL for 4 months. Silverware, difference experience etc., great fans and still in the Europa League.

So Sporting managed to get round that pesky third party ownership issue, good for them!

Apparently not. They apparently only bought Vitoria's 50%. The remaining 50% remains with Spurs so we still in theory get 50% on his next transfer.
I know, I was being facetious, seems like an pretty straight forward solution.
Whereas whenever we encounter a potential signing with a % owned by a third party it is made out like it's an impossible web of red tape that cannot be negotiated, until 3 days later when the player moves elsewhere...
I guess maybe you need the agreement of the third party and in this instance maybe we were happy to allow it as his value could increase sufficiently at Sporting that we make a good bit more.
I also think that in England specifically you cannot have a player owned by a third party. The buying club has to get a hold of the full 100.
Interesting loophole however that we can "own a stake" in a player playing in another league.
It could be two different things tbf, our "stake" in Edwards is just a 50% sell on clause isn't is? Which we must simply have agreed to carry forward to his new club, whilst Sporting must have also agreed to it in order to keep the cost of his transfer down.
Not sure if this third party business that you see with a lot of South Americans is the same thing, slightly different, or something else entirely.
I don't think there is anything preventing us from putting the kind of clause we had on Edwards into dela where we sell a youngster to another English club? Just a cultural thing I thought that means it simply isn't very common here?

Juventus proposed it to anyone. I also wrote to him on the Instagram profile begging him to leave because he would pleasantly get back into the game and would have given a positive example on his children instead of being in the stands to steal a very high salary and go only to the national team
