The guy's had 2 major ACL injuries and has missed a ton of games as a result.

That would be a huge, huge gamble. Especially as the PL is more physical than Serie A, by quite some margin.

Yeah he wouldn't cost loads and yeah he was touted as a superstar in the making before his first injury...but that's the thing, he's not just had one, he's had 2 ACL.

So that's a hard pass from me
Another player from Italy as patrici knows f all about players from anywhere else in the world or even in the uk!

We basically lost Diaz to Liverpool because his agent didn’t want Mendes in it
I mentioned in the transfer thread something to do with mendes. Why is he involved? Surely the DOF contacts the club to enquire first? Why would we need mendes to get involved? Football is fucked up. The DOF should do the negotiating for the buying club with the player, his club and his agents if necessary.

He got golden boot (23) last year even though we finished 7th (35 games).

18 in just 29 games the year before when we finished 6th.
Good point. Thats true . But last year mourinho's counter attack tactics did work very well for a while. Still think we will have to improve our attacking quality if hes to repeat 20 goals a season (especially as he is likely to physically decline as he ages even more)

Us getting our shit together ought to be the primary focus regardless.....

(FWIW; I reckon he'll easily break 20 in all comps by the end of this season tho'.... He's already on 13.... 5 in EPL.)

If - I repeat if - this is true (that Real M. will activate the buy-back clause) then Spurs will need to look for 1 or 2 LB's. I thought the buy-back clause was £40M and no longer valid but maybe I'm wrong. Ryan Sessegnon would have been a good replacement if he hadn't been so injury-prone (which has affected his development).
4 players come to my mind

Angelino,
Aaron Buchanan Hickey,
Omar Richards (understudy)
Lucas Netz
Theo Hernandez (doubt Spurs could afford him)

Serious blow for Conte as report claims Real Madrid will rip ‘safe bet’ star from Tottenham

Date published: Wednesday 2nd February 2022 1:20 - James Marshment

Tottenham are seemingly preparing for the summer departure of Sergio Reguilon after a report claimed Real Madrid have decided to activate the buy-back clause in his contract.

Spurs have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions so far this season. They sat atop the Premier League table after three matches before a dismal run of form saw them freefall into mid-table. That run of form ultimately cost Nuno Espirito Santo his job, with Antonio Conte brought in as a replacement.

But he does use players like that. I guess we can argue over whether someone is an AM or creative or not but every midfield he has played has had way more creativity and attacking ability than what we currently have.
Juventus he played Pirlo, Vidal and Marchisio and then eventually Pogba.

Chelski he favoured Matic and Kante.

Inter he favoured Brozovic, Barella and Vidal

You’re saying the aggregate coefficients of the leagues from 1999 to 2018 shows the EPL is higher than LaLiga? Do you have a link? I honestly doubt it, but I could be wrong.

If you take the last five years Spain are just ahead, if you add this season so far England are now ahead, but to be fair this season isn't finished so I'm not going to split hairs.

With 16/17 dropping out in the summer English clubs will move well ahead - that can be found here where year to date coefficients are detailed

UEFA country coefficient

This is why I like actual data, you can't deny the numbers.

How can you have a buy back clause? Modern transfer dealings are utter shit!

By my reckoning that will be too late.... Season 2 will be over by then.

That's not what Arnesen's been saying.
For a recent example, the Athletic reporting today that Conte wanted Traore, Paratici too, but 'Levy had doubts about the move'.

The long drawn out transfer fail is Levy's specialty, a result of his insistence on getting 'value'. It's the common theme in all our transfer windows regardless of whoever is manager or DoF.

Haaland wants close to 1 mill a week salary. Of course City can afford it but that doesn't mean they will want to pay that much, they have walked away from deals before if they didn't feel it was worth it.
That's what I admire about City. A lot of people say "Oh they buy the league".. They don't, they invest smartly. Granted the money is the reason they are where they are now, but a lot of the signings they have made have been sought out over time and very rarely overpaid. They are happy to walk away from deals that they know are "City tax."

......Does it say what those "doubts" were?

......Does it say where this allegation is coming from?

What we do know is that Barca was very much 'in for him' for some time (with AT himself issuing a "come n get me" plea to them in the summer) and that despite us being willing to BUY Traore, Wolves ended up accepting a loan deal..... Sounds like the agent played the wining hand there to me.

........Both AT & Diaz; it just sounds like we were used to smoke out the clubs that the players truly wanted, sadly.

No chance imo

They do..... Dodgy sponsorships galore....., Have a read of the latest posts in the City thread for the latest chapter(*).

Just cos they have spent well; it doesn't change the fact that they have BOUGHT their success and current status in the game.

(*Also whilst you're there check out the tweet that highlights their dirty propaganda games.....)

Scummy club.

They have had loads of 40-50m players fail (4 wbs?) and can move onto the next, it looks like they haven't overpaid on the current squad because of all the failures they have got rid of.
