Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I have no idea whether he slow or not, but if he’s just meant to be Lucas’ sub or replacement, I don’t think his pace matters in Conte’s system.

What’s most important is whether he could pick out passes in the final third, something no one ( Kane aside) does on a consistent basis. The 20min cameo against Brighton showed that he’s definitely capable of it, in my opinion, that’s a good start.

According to a interview with the independent he apparently got some hands on training from Pirlo when the latter was coaching Juventus about how to improve his passing and being a playmaker.

There are worse players to learn from in that regard.

I don't think Kulu was bought as a straight 'Lucas' sub. He is way slower from what I saw. He does seem to have a good "Football" mind. He seemed to read the game well and made a few good passes. He also slowed the game nicely at a time we needed to calm things down.

And he hopes the advice of Andrea Pirlo, who coached him at Juve, stands him in good stead.

“Pirlo is a fantastic coach and a fantastic guy,” he said. “I spoke with him nearly every day and he always spoke to me a lot about how I should shape my body and how I can look for passes without showing the opposition where I am going to play the ball.

“And that is exactly what I hope will help me to help Harry even more in the future.

“He (Harry) is unbelievable. Yes, up there. What impressed me was his technique, the way he stopped the ball and the way he changes the whole pitch with his passes from both feet.

“It is amazing really. And I know that when he has the ball I have to run because he will find me.”

Kevin De Bruyne inspiration

Dejan Kulusevski has spoken previously of his admiration for Adnan Januzaj growing up in Sweden.

But it’s another player in Kevin De Bruyne who he tries to model his game on.

He told Sky Italia,as quoted byThe Sun: “I study Kevin De Bruyne a lot because he is a phenomenal player and because I want to become like him.

“It depends on the team, on the game. For how we play in Parma, the coach has found the perfect position for me — as a winger.

“When I was in the Primavera of Atalanta, on the other hand, I played more in the centre because the action had to start from behind.

“My perfect role? Behind the strikers. When I play, I don’t think about goals or assists.

“With the ball, I think always attacking, to the fact that the defenders have to know who they are dealing with. Having said that, I need to improve in shooting more often and also in scoring more.”

I think they're just different.

Chadlii was always Son lite to me, essentially. Pacey winger with a terrific shot. Son obviously is a better all around player too.

Kulu is a cerebral, slow, attacking midfielder. He's much more an Eriksen than chadlii.

In fact he reminds me more of a Lamela who's more creative and plays with his head more up, but obviously less physical and defensive. Essentially he could end up being what we hoped Lamela would be when we signed him. Tricky right winger who's creative and can cut in on his left and score belters or create for others.
Chadli ? Pace?

Am I going mad , he was slow as hell from what I remember

I don't know why there is so much discussion about his pace. It was obvious to anybody that had seen 5 minutes of him at Juve that he's no speed merchant.

It appears to have surprised many on here which tells you most people hadn't actually seen him play at all before he joined us. Which is probably the case with nearly all of our new signings....
I said he was slow the first time we were linked with him.

That is interesting if true. But what that really doesn't show you is the acceleration/burst of pace and also their dribbling speed (rather than just a top speed of them on the pitch when running). Take Son's run in the last game for example, he was quick but he was quick with ball at his feet and was able to pass other players who didn't have the ball whilst he did. So really some context needs to be given about the above..
