Every time that PEH is legitimately criticized there are tons that rush here to defend him. Only thing close is the Son fanboi's but that is a subsect of the "fanbase".

No, Lloris's drinking problem (alleged, by me) was at the heart of the goals we conceded today.
He isn't a good player and he has had multiple bad games this year and last year.
The excuses for this guy are hilarious.
Of course Lloris was poor today.
He's often labelled as a warrior, which AFAIC, is manager/coach/PR-speak for, "I know he's a bit crap but he's reliable, has utility, is up for new challenges, and is a positive energy in the squad."

It's been a while since I've been away from this place, but I do agree with you that there's a strage cult of positivity around our players. I got so much fucking abuse for calling Son a limited player.

got a lot of abuse for hating Sissoko and Moura in the second mourinho season. People were always making excuses about why it's OK for Sissoko to just be a baby sitter for trippier/aurier.The same pattern was repeated with Ndombele, Emerson and Sanchez, it's always "give him a bit of time", "he's just missing x, y, z to be a solid player".
At least with Dele it makes sense somewhat, he was a magical player for us, still so young, and his decline was hard to put down to loss of pace or whatever.
We could really do with being a bit more objective about our players.

This would make a bit of sense if we were only talking about his initial stint under Mou when he really was defensively solid, but unspectacular workhorse.
He's clearly regressed quite a bit since then.
Perhaps not 'very good' but he's certainly not bad - and there are plenty of others (at least 6) I'd upgrade on in the squad before Hojbjerg.
Starting every PL game bar one before this one since he arrived (60+ PL games) tells you he's a trier - for the rest of the season I'd prefer Bentancur and Skipp in midfield, but we certainly need Hojbjerg as part of the squad
Now that is the one narrative I agree with. He needs a rest until the end of the season and maybe even until his contract runs out.
Hojbjerg was taken off with 30 minutes to go and then dropped altogether against Wolves. In that time we conceded 4 and only scored 1.
People might not like him because he isn't creative enough or just passes it sideways, but the truth is he is crucial to how we play. It's not just him.. Skipp is a huge miss as well.
3-5-2 is our best formation, and I'd like to see Skipp, Bentancur and Hojbjerg all play together.

It is insane how people want to just say we didn't get scored on while x wasn't there while not willing to look at whether them being there actually makes a difference and in the case of PEH and Dier them missing had nothing to do with us conceding or not.
PEH is not good enough to start if we want top 4, he doesn't have the ability.

Fans want players who tackle like Roy Keane, pass like Glen Hoddle, run like Usain Bolt, shoot like Gareth Bale and pledge total allegiance to THFC.
Said player does not exist. So whoever we have in CM will get abuse.
Of the players we have in our squad today, I'd rather he was playing than not. And this has as much to do with the alternative (Winks) as anything else.
No he is 100% part if why we are struggling so badly. No progressive top half EPL side can carry him and Winks. I'd rather lose playing White Skipp and Bentancur than continue to watch him throw hopeless balls at the attacker wave his arms about and turn back to the centerbacks. His lack of gears and mobility are killing us. Conte needs to wake up.
No we just need one of each type of the players you name in the three and we'd be fine. The issue is Winks and Hojbjerg can't do any of the three things you have named and it's why dropping both is the only way forward. Seriously as soon as both are stood down the sooner we will improve.
We can only play 11 players. We'll see when Skipp is back if he can do the job of PEH and Bentancur could be a better bet alongside him.
But as things stand, withour squad, with Skipp injured, I'd rather have PEH on the pitch..
