With Bentancur, Kulusevski, and Romero looking like reliable long term pieces, I don't think we're that far away from having a really competitive team.
  • Need a LCB, Davies a great rotation option but not a starter
  • Replace Winks with another dynamic central midfielder in Conte's mould and bring back Sarr
  • Quality RWB who can score and create needed, Doherty or Emerson fine as rotation
  • Attacking player who can both play or rotate with Kane, Depay or someone in that mould would work well
  • Question mark is LWB, can Reg and Sess be trusted?
Four quality signings this summer, which is totally doable, and I think we're almost there. Just six weeks of watching Kulusevski and Bentancur I feel so much better about the trajectory of this team.
Ideally those 4 positions + another CB and MF on top of those.

Skipp, PEH, Benta, + 2 new MFs is a must, we can’t go a whole season with just 4 senior MFs especially if Conte wants to go 3-5-2

And one injury to Dier or Romero and we’re stuck with Sanchez/Rodon (who Conte and Mason clearly don’t trust) so we need an LCB AND another CB

Pau Torres is my no.1 choice for LCB classy footballer and knows we’re interested decided go stay to play CL for his boyhood club and now they’re in the QF! Fair play Emery.

I think we could prob triple his wages! Fingers crossed

Competitive for what though?

Bentancur and Kulusevski don't make us competitive with City, Pool or Chelsea. Keeping Dier in as one of our centerbacks again doesn't make us close to those teams either.

If the goal is to be competing for the 4th spot then yes you are right that could have us competitive but if we want anything more than that then we need a lot more than 4 players coming in.

Plus that 4th spot will get much more competitive with Newcastle improving, United not having Ole level incompetence and the Scum potentially getting CL money to reinforce their squad.

kalidou koulibaly
sergey milinkovic savic
otavio
pukki

yes or not?

No to Pukki

Isn't good enough to rotate with Kane and isn't young enough to have potential to eventually take over. Could be used in the low level Cup games and if we get into Europa Conference League but that is about it.

I would rather go with a younger player with potential like a Brereton-Dias or pay for the upgrade on someone who could actually be a player that could play in the PL.

Nunes over Otavio but those 4 would be a dream window
Pukki + dream window ?????

I would be interested in Jovic as a bench option. He hasn't set the world alight at Madrid, but analytics showed that even if he only scored a couple of goals during his loan back to Frankfurt, his movement and work rate did so much to help their overall attacking output.

He needs to rehab his career a bit and I think that the prem could do that for him.

I think it's relatively simple to an extent although we have numerous challenges.

Conte and more likely Kane stay if we start our transfer Business early doors. Nothing about rocket science there

City will go all in for Haaland and Kane is another year older. United are in a mess and Chelsea can't buy anyone and Liverpool would go elsewhere.... I think, if Salah declines their offer. PSG forget it and Bayern would mean up sticks- not happening.

On Conte, linked to Kane at least being settled I think it's a bit harder but he might well be satisfied with a demonstration of commitment, whatever that equates to in his expectation.

As before if Conte wants to try and build a team them he might as well stay because it might need less than we all think. If he wants a ready meal then it's Ciao.

yes that was my idea.
he has EPL experience, he would accept the bench peacefully, he is a low cost option

jmb_31: I said Pukki, but I mean a back up striker like Pukki. besides even him is better than nobody
No way to Pukki, yes to the other three. Pretty unrealistic though.

I find myself on the horns of a dilemma atm. I wonder if I'm alone or whether any others feel the same.
Whilst I would absolutely love top 4 (but can't see us getting anywhere in the CL), I'm also afraid that if we do get top 4, it's the perfect excuse for Levy not to spend much in the summer because his income stream rockets immediately and that's his primary concern.
Anybody got any thoughts?

Last time we got top 4 he spent £130m so no.

Regardless of getting CL or not he's gonna have to spend money on the squad anyway, it's more likely that he'll be willing to drop more if we qualify because of the financial benefits it brings.

Good point but I'm a long time supporter and very wary about Levy's motives. Hope you’re right!

I think you're right but for the wrong reasons. If we get top 4 it's because we were good enough to get top 4 and so don't need to strengthen. That'll be Levy's logic.
We only spent £130m the last time we qualified because we spent the square route of fuck all the two prior windows and our best coach in 2+ decades was making a lot of noise about being unhappy. We certainly didn't spend £130m jut because we qualified.
Given we qualified the year before and bought no one.
And we qualified the year before that having finished 2nd and had a net spend of all of £32m

The idea that getting in the CL means we'll spend £100m+ net is hilarious.
I'm sure the poster that suggested it will reply to this with some gobbledegook but I won't care as he's on ignore. I only clicked show ignored content because I was curious as to what you were replying to.
