RM have 33 year old Marcello as LB and his contract runs out in June. Might Madrid be thinking they need another quality left back as replacement even with Mendy already there ?

Agree the buyout is top of his worth, but from RM's point of view exercising a buyout clause is really interested, he's an HG player etc. Just depends if they have cash available.

Not sure there's enough upside to justify trying to flip him ?
Mendy is their main LB and they seem to rate 20yr Miguel Gutiérrez

Villa just brought in 3 players that impacted their team.

Everton brought in 3 players to impact their team, plus Alli who they may have thought would but we know how crap he is so I won't count him.

Newcastle brought in 5 players.

So just this window we have 3 clubs in the PL that all brought in more players than us. Not as hard as you are trying to make it out to be.
Everton???

If they are happy with Gutiérrez, Madrid will not exercise their right to buy Reguilon as they have no need of an extra LB, and their is no decent margin to sell him on to others.

Doesn't stop Barcelona or others putting in bids - and if the bid is 40m Spurs have a decision to make but we could surely find a replacement (possibly better?) at a lower fee ?

Indeed. Who'd pay north of 40m for him....? Either RM want him or they don't.

Surely RM don't sell to Barca as a rule anyway?

What happened to the other LB they had there? When we bought Reg he was #3 in the pecking order.

Barca don't have 40m, they've had their wage cap released, it's in the negative again and they will be cutting costs not paying top whack for a LB.

Atletico is probably the only other option for him in Spain ?

Not sure he'll be that attractive to Italian or other non Spanish clubs for them to pay over 40m for the Spanish player,

So we may get bids lower than 40m and its then a question as to whether we want to buy an alternative player (and for it to be worth our while) when we have other squad slots to fill

Is it time to look at the clubs likely to be relegated and list the players who we might actively want ?

After tonight, Leeds are 7 points ahead of the drop with 8 games to go, so likely safe.

That leaves :
- Norwich on 17 points, 8 points from safety
- Burnley on 21 points, 4 points from safety
- Watford on 22 points, 3 points from safety
- Everton on 25 points, 4 points above the drop but 4 points below Leeds.

Can't see Leeds (29 points) or Brentford (30 points) or Newcastle (31 points) being dragged in to the relegation fight.

So the question is which players (if any) would be available from the 4 potentially relegated clubs - and who play in positions we need to fill ?

Are there any ?

Yep.
I'm not so sure Leeds are safe. That sending off turned the game tonight. Phillips.
Burnley: Tarkowski is a free agent this summer.
Norwich: Nobody
Watford: Nobody
Everton I reckon will stay up
Brentford are not safe: Eriksen

Sarr from Watford and Dwight Mcneil from Burnley.

Lodi scored against Man U, seems a good prospect at LB, again unlikely they would want him.

Just don't see it, and I don't want it. We would likely trade down, people are raving about Cucurella but I wouldnt swap
