I really think it’s stupid to get bale and Eriksen again, it’s purely emotional. Would Liverpool be better off bringing suarez back when they signed diogo jota?Or instead of getting luis Diaz this January getting Coutinho back because nobody wants him?

We need young players. Guys who want to prove a point.

Bale yes, Eriksen no.

People are very quick to forget just how poor Eriksen was in those last 12-18 months. There were quite a few games where he offered literally nothing (I remember seeing some stat post after one game where all of the key metrics were 0 for him - Everton away?).

In my opinion he is overrated by Spurs fans because we didn't have a player in the squad that offered what he did (in terms of like-for-like creativity). He was the sole creative player in an attacking quarter of Dele, Son and Kane. He took most corners/free-kicks. Of course his stats will be good as a result but that doesn't mean a similar or better player couldn't do more.

If he comes back it's not a bad piece of business but I really don't understand this clamour to praise him as some sort of legend.

If Tottenham were to bring Eriksen back, he would finally provide the answer to the question 'How do Spurs fill the hole left by Christian Eriksen?'. It would be himself. He was directly involved in 159 goals in 305 matches for Tottenham, delivering on average almost every other game from midfield as he netted 69 goals and laid on 90 assists.

I think it's stupid to compare Spurs situation to Liverpool in every sense. Especially ironic when Luis Diaz rejected spurs to join Liverpool and you are quoting him as an example of what Spurs should be doing.

Spurs don't have the same luxury or choice of players to pick from , so need to be smarter on who is gettable and go for it if it helps incrementally improve the squad quality

Dumfries or Singo are both decent links for rwb. Dumfries has goals and assists in him, his running off the ball is great, defending okay, general play is fine. I do question his fitness a bit, could see him needing to be subbed a lot in the PL playing that role. 26yo.

Singo is 5 years younger so you'd hope there's more scope for improvement. Better on the ball in deep areas than Dumfries I think, much better dribbler, marginally stronger in the air and probably a better defender. Not as proven goalscorer/assister/off ball runner. Last few games I've seen him have a few lazy moments, not killing himself to get back in position after an attack.

Exactly, the way we became a regular CL team is by combining cheap but very good players like Eriksen, Son, Dele, Jan, etc. with a quality manager.

Now with our status as a top 6 club and all the extra money, we can afford to splash out a bit on a manager like Conte, and star players like Romero, Ndombele etc. but we still have to combine that with shrewd business like Kulusevski will hopefully turn out to be.

If Madrid take Reguilon back, I’d love to see us buy Dwight McNeil from Burnley.
I'd take any old bang average LWB over him at this point. Just tired of him. He's never going to be elite so what's the point of having hang around any longer? Sell and try again.

I suppose the attraction of Phillips is that he's homegrown.

but the obvious downside of that being he's prob about 50/60M which is crazy

Phillips would be great. Better than any CM we have for sure. Only question marks would be over price & his recent injury record.

Oh look what aboutry.

Every single poster has stated his signing would be dependent on his legal situation. But you go on with yer bad self. Stay special we all impressed.:dierpochhug:
It's legitimate to say that our club's standard should be to take the word of victims seriously and err on the side of caution when signing players who may have especially unsavoury characters.
Let's take the precautionary principle and not try to associate ourselves with Bissouma. It is our reputation at stake after all.
