He just can’t defend. He hets caught out of position all the time.

Say what you want about Davies (his faults are clear), but the lad knows when to go forward and when to hold his position. He knows his role.

Reguillon has demonstrated zero development.
Agree with you and Deuterz Deuterz

Coaching has to be blamed; LWB was meant to suit him but he seems to have lost his crossing ability while his defending his as flimsy as ever.

The good news is hopefully we can sell him for a decent fee; and as I just pointed out, there are many replacements: Angelino is proven quality based on CL displays, Raum & Sosa have great potential, while Kostic is an older option.

We have far more trouble at RWB, not sure who will buy Emerson, and there aren't that many suitable options either.

This is true but would be acceptable if he was good going forward .. the issue there is he does know how to position himself and does possess pace/ability to get past players but then has woeful decision making and can't deliver a ball.

Rubbish at both ends of the pitch, sadly.

Unfortunately, I don't think Reggie has done enough lately to warrant being looked at by either Barca or RM. And looking back on it, it doesn't seem like he's had a very impressive season here so far either. I'd be surprised if anyone will come for him this summer.
The best thing about Reggie is his girlfriend.
She’s a total smoke-show.
If I were him, I probably wouldn’t give a toss about how I performed on the pitch.

I think there will be a decent (European) market for Emerson as a RB. I think we’ve hurt his brand by trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and, probably, it will mean a small discount but, as he proved on Saturday, he’s a reliable defender.

Mentally I always place players into a kind of grid of technical - can do something, shoot/pass/dribble/tackle etc well enough. Smart - has an appreciation for the tactical side of the game.

Davies is a perfect example of the smart but technically deficient player. Like you said, good positional sense, anticipates danger, and under Conte he does quite well to get up the pitch and be a threat.

Unfortunately, he can't jump, so we concede goals if there's a cross to the back post (ronaldo goal under Nuno). He is poor at dribbling and short passing, so he either coughs up the ball in a dangerous way or has to kick it down the wing to Sess/Regiu/Son.

PEH is another example.

Regui has no appreciation AT ALL for the tactical aspect of football, and lack the technique to be useful even when he finds himself in a position to do something.

Not sure what to think.

Good player but can be incredibly frustrating and his decision making can be poor.

Then again, home grown and has over 100 PL goals so perhaps I'm being unfair. He's 27 and has good pace, would prob offer a lot more than Bergwijn & Lucas.

If I was him I'd be pretty keen on playing week in and week out with my England captain too. Just imagine them at the WC/Euros with a Kane-Son kind of telepathy.
:sonhmm:

As I said in the Emerson thread: I'd probably look to initially just loan Emerson out. We all know that Conte doesn't tend to be the most long term of managers, his original contract only runs until 2023. If Conte decides not to renew and leaves at the end of next season we may end up with a manager that is looking to use traditional fullbacks.

If we loan Emerson out next season we can hold off on deciding his faith until after we know what is going to happen with Conte and his eventual successor.

He’s just so, so weak

There have been/are tiny full backs but they are hard and strong. Reguilon would get knocked over by a stiff breeze

You need power to play in the premier league, he doesn’t have one iota of power in his entire body unfortunately

Add to that his lack of creativity, technical skills and intelligence and you’ve got yourself a pretty piss poor full back/wing back

He has good energy about him and has a knack of finding himself in good attacking positions, but sadly that's not enough.

I never saw him play for Seville..... What exactly did he used to do well?

Was his delivery and finishing better?
More defensively solid?

What got everyone so hyped about him originally?
