I don’t agree that Emerson deal is that bad for Spurs. If we sold him now, it would be for the same money.

It wouldn't. La Liga teams aren't paying 25 million for an unwanted RB. It's not a sellers market so if we wanted to get rid we'd be taking a hit .. a small hit I imagine, but a hit nonetheless. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a loan to buy as well.

And I don't see any teams outside of La Liga going for him. That's where he looked good.

Barcleona need to get players off their books still to reduce their wages bill (they cannot sign 2 players on free transfers until they do that, so Kessie and Christensen have quit their old clubs but cannot be signed by Barca yet.

Expect lots of 'deals' being floated by agents and media to clear the way for Barcelonato sort out their finances - so expect Spurs to be used to drum up interest in players Barcelona want shot off, even if its clear they are not good enough for Spurs.

Lenglet seems a smart signing to me if we've missed out on Bastoni. No point rushing in and panic spending big on an alternative target who is overpriced, like Gvardiol. On a 2 year loan with option to buy it makes sense.

Been in a bad period of his career but he's a full French international & the Conte setup really helps defenders, look at Davies/Dier. If it's a signing Conte is happy to go for then all good.

Gvardiol wouldn't be a panic signing, he's always been one of the main targets and the window hasn't even opened.

I can't see anyone wanting to pay a billion for Spanners Or Leicester, Brighton, Wolves.
Chelsea just sold for 4.25B. I don't think they are the most valubale club in the league, but they are obviously much bigger than those four clubs you listed. But certainly Spam and Leicester are worth more than a billion now. The value is that they are established premier league clubs and there is so much revenue in the league and so few established clubs available for purchase at any one time. A top ten club in good health is going to be worth around that mark in my view.

Look at this:

AC Milan are last in that table, with 161M Euros income (despite finishing second last season). Admittedly Brighton are not on the list at all, but the other three are, the lowest of which is Wolves with 219M Euro income. I should probably change what I said a bit, and say teams regularly in the top ten as the likes of Brighton and Wolves finished lower last season, whereas Leicester and West Ham finished top ten last season too. In any event, the trend where the Premier League's power grows while Serie A weakens in comparison is very likely to continue. More people attend Championship games than go watch teams in Italy. Buying a top ten prem side is a way more promising investment (and accordingly is more costly) than any Serie A team, aside perhaps from Juventus, though they see their own future as being quite bleak unless they can resurect the super league.

He'd be an absurd amount of money for a young CB. You'd be paying close to VVD money for a player not near that level yet, who may never get there. Bastoni was in that sweet spot of being expensive but not ridiculously so.

Anyhow, if the club decide to take the plunge on it, fair enough. But that would be a big chunk of the summer budget on him, and a lot of pressure to deal with for the player.

Lenglet has been shit the past 2 years at Barca but in the past 2 years they have ruined many players

If you look at him he has the same passing range as Bastoni, maybe if we get him on a loan it's because something else has come up like a wingback or midfielder we didn't think was available now is

Just remember how "shit" Bentancur & Kulusevski were before they joined us, we aren't signing anyone Conte doesn't want, and he did sign some crap that he made into players at Inter

Agree for the most part. I'd rather we went for Torres/Ndicka/Lisandro Martinez than Lenglet to be honest, but I agree that he'll look a better player on left of a back three with Conte coaching him. He has great ability with the ball, but makes some terrible errors

If the idea was Lenglet as a squad player, perhaps to replace Rodon or Tanganga, I could live with it. Massive step down from the likes of Bastoni and Gvardiol if he’s the main target.
If his hardly better than Rodon and tananga then why bother? Why don’t we just try to develop those two. It seems we have always but someone from overseas just for the sake of it. Let conte work his magic on our players and buy proper quality and not squad fillers.
