Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I never thought he should have got abused. I find that all completely uneccessary, as again he's done nothing wrong. However It seemed pretty obvious that his time was up with us 12 months ago and he decided to give it another year, fair play, thats his right. Just dont see what good its done his career really when he could have played 40 or so games for another decent prem club.

That's a separate discussion though and with such hindsight he may very well agree with you.

However, with a new manager incoming you can see why he did.....

If we’re revamping our scouting department then I don’t want us to spunk all our money this season.

50/60m net should be fine. Concentrate on getting deadwood out for reasonable fees without holding out for unrealistic prices. Then give the new scouting team time to bed in and have another exciting transfer window next year. We’ll have less deadwood to sell so we’ll need more cash reserves. At the very least we’ll need a top quality keeper.

Very optimistic times.
I am pretty sure that Paratici already has a very good "understanding" of all the players who are now considered as improvements for this season. See how he picked out Juve "flops" because he knew what they were capable of (ok, with his Juve background he had a certain advantage).
What Spurs have lacked in the past (with a few, sporadic exceptions) is identifying top talents with the right mindset to grow into EPL stars by being able to predict their career trajectory (something Pochettino & his scouts totally failed at by getting Aurier, Sanchez, Lo Celso, Ndombele - very expensive signings and none of them fit for a top EPL team, albeit Sanchez has redeemed himself under Conte).
I rather have Spurs spend all that money this summer - if needed - to cover as many weaknesses in the squad/starting XI as possible and have them settle into Conte's system. If it works out well (leads to a "good" season for Spurs) that in itself will generate more funds for next season.

Totally different. Kane didn't state he would leave in 3 years for free. He wanted to leave at the time, for a hefty fee that could be reinvested into the team.
Totally different, or similar situations from a different perspective?

Bottom line for me is that when people are advocating the club strong arming a player into leaving when he has stated a perfectly reasonable desire to fulfil his contract and then return home prior to retirement, then they cannot complain when a player decides they want to leave with years left on their contract and then acts like a dick to try and force the club's hand.

I don't think that will be covered in the contract with Brighton. They're not the ones that got Bissouma in trouble. For them it's probably "take it, Spurs, or leave it." If there's any clause it would be in the contract with the player.
In July 2007, he was set to move to Birmingham City for a fee of £3 million (subject to work permit approval).[9] However, on 3 August, Birmingham announced they would not be completing the deal after a training ground disagreement with manager Steve Bruce.[10]

There won't be many games where we can go at less than near full strength next season unless we decide to sack off the domestic cups (which I really hope we don't).

We don't enter the League Cup until the 3rd round, and at that stage we could just as easily get City as a League One club. We can't mess about with the play-off round in the Champions League, and assuming we win that there won't be any games against weak teams in the group.
There's no CL play-off round.

And would it be professional for the club to try and strong arm Lucas into accepting a transfer he doesn't want, which is what some seem to be implying?
We'll likely be telling Emerson, Requillon and others to find another club and they seem quite happy here. Is that strongarming them out or just part and parcel of modern day football? As long as its not done with any animosity or 'freezing them out' i just dont see the issue. Clearly Moura wont do anything he doesnt want to do. But as i said we heard the same from Toby and Lamela 12 months ago.
