Totally - and their fans still berate their owners.
As far as I can tell, the only fans who unanimously like their owners are City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

The mistake Woolwich made is throwing backing behind Arteta. The investment has been good, a lot of the players they've signed are also pretty smart signings, lots of young, talented, energetic footballers who fit the right mould. Nobody special but the right kind.

But they've shown hilarious support for a BTEC version of Pep, so are managing to piss it all up the wall.

Great post. Nailed it
Thank you.

The way I see it is, Lenglet has had more good than bad in his career (started well at Barcelona btw), is just coming into his prime, and if we ended up with him and shipping out any of Rodon, Sanchez or Tanganga, we’ve got a better balanced 6 to choose from AND and upgrade on the overall quality.

My gut tells me it’s Rodon that would be sacrificed in all this.

If r/ that means Reddit then you can be sure the opposite of that is true.

Bunch of teenagers who play Football Manager and actually subscribe to The Athletic. They take their stupid opinions from each other.

Get a grip Steve. 2 free transfers and one generally low fee player doesn't absolve 20 years of outright stingeyness.
Talk of a £150m cash injection isn't even that exciting when other teams not owned by countries can spend that year on year.
Levy isn't suddenly a great chairman that deserves everyone's love and admiration. He's the same old Levy he always has been but now we have Conte, who actually have a massive pair of bollocks and will demand he gets what he wants. And in addition to that, for the first time ever, this really is last chance saloon for Levy. If Conte fucks off there's nowhere left to go.
This is not a man who is finally standing up and being top dog. This is a man with his back to the wall and reacting out of sheer fear.
Umm no. This is someone who now finally has money to spend and a manager he trusts will spend it wisely. He's not spending because he's terrified of Conte. He's spending because he knows Conte delivers.

You make it sound like Levy can be bullied. He didn't get Spurs to this point by allowing himself to be bullied.

So what did Conte do, hold a gun to Levy's head and say give me the job?

You do realise that Levy actually hired Conte so pretty sure he knew what he was getting himself into...

If you don't think it's been a good window so far, then I don't know what to say.

It's not been bad. Forster for Gollini free for free for no real benefit other than HG quota. We had that before Gollini.... Peresic is a great player who will do us well for a year or 2. Again, on a free. No bargaining. No negotiating. There's plenty of examples over the years where free transfers or players with buyout clauses get done quickly. Bissouma is the highlight so far but even that isn't mega. £25m+ add ons is not a statement signing financially. It was too good an opportunity not to get done early. And that's where we are. We still have potentially half a dozen players to move on. We still need 2 or 3 more incomings for when they go. A ball hasn't been kicked so we have no idea if any of this has actually proved good.
A lot of people were saying it was a good window in the summer of 2020 when......we go an English backup keeper. A CM. A RWB. A LWB.
We even got a striker in the door. And Bale came back! And most of it wasn't last minute.com either. People were really satisfied with that window at the time. What happened?

Same mistake United have made. Keeping Ole at the wheel and giving him hundreds of millions to spend on players.

We've had substantially more champions league football than Woolwich and Leicester and yet they don't seem to act like they have no money?
When Klopp took over Liverpool they were generally behind us but they gave him whatever he wanted.
Pochettino had taken us from 5th/6th to 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and still barely gave him what he wanted.
He blatently saw Poch work wonders with what he had and figured he could carry it on. (and no, I don't rate Poch as a scout either before you say it)
Levy this time last summer had just made the worst managerial appointment of his 20 year reign and everyone knew it. Everyone where they tried to kid themselves or not, knew it was bad for the club.
He now knows that if Conte walks he has nowhere to go. He cannot pull any of his shit. We will never get an elite coach again if this goes belly up. They'll all laugh if Levy calls.

Is Lenglet genuinely shit?

Can’t remember having seen him play.
Great with the ball. Would be our best passer in backline or midfield probably. Flaky in defence. Become very prone to game-changing error the past 2yrs (pens, handballs, second yellow, beaten in the air, positioning error/switching off) after a really strong first 18months with Barca.

Personally think the reduction in defensive responsibility in a three and ball ability makes him a good fit, but I'd worry about the mentality that's lead to a quite drastic drop in performance. Barca has not been a good place to play in recent years though, especially in defence. Ultimately think he'd displace Davies in the side and do quite well, but probably cost us a game or two over the course of a season.

Forster >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gollini

Perisic is a fantastic signing

Downplaying the Bissouma signing because we got for a good price is ridiculous.
He's one of the best PL proven CMs anyone could buy, let alone us.

Liverpool gave Klopp money from sales to spend.
