He was shit last season, will be even more of a lazy statue next season. Will probably get 15 PL goals but will almost certainly ensure they don’t get too 4 as he disrupts their style of play

Myth.
Man United won more points, scored more goals and conceded less goals when Ronaldo played.
But the narrative that he's greedy and spoils their play has to keep getting peddled.
They weren't crap because of Ronaldo. They were crap despite Ronaldo.

He didn’t help IMO. sorry, the eye test showed he contributed very little other than some incredible work in the box. That’s not enough, Conte/Pep/Klopp wouldn’t go near him

All gone a bit quiet but a few bits

Spence looked most likely, but not any more.

Langlet not sure why that's being held up all but signed off, but it is being delayed.

Bremer nothing's changed, his partner doesn't want to move to UK, he'd prefer Italy.

All sounds negative and yet I'm being told we still think more in before Korea.

Bastoni as I posted 2 weeks ago deal was not dead, and also interest in Di Lorenzo from Napoli.

So Italy may well still hold the key to what's going on, though with how quiet things have gone I wouldn't be surprised to see a rabbit from the hat situation.

Trix, Nice to see you are covering all angles you fraud bastard. Lenglet doesn’t sign, you can then point out the delay being the reason. Spence doesn’t sign, you got a get me out option on that too. How do they keep getting away with it on Spurs community? Not one of them called any of Richarlison, Perisic or Bissouma

Nailed it.

He won them plenty of his games, and did his job from a goalscoring perspective. Same at Juventus where apparently he was the problem, until he left and they got less points. People just have a bit of an axe to grind with Ronaldo.

He's nowhere near what he was and you have to carry him from a pressing perspective, but he still does a very competent job.

The fuck is this, he's literally just posted what's out there in the media anyway :D

Trying to claim Man United had any kind of a style or plan, which may have included pressing is giving them way too much credit.
They had Ole for half a season and a completely unmotivated gimp for the 2nd half.

The obvious counter argument to that is:

Utd 20/21: 2nd (without Greasy Ron)
Utd 21/22: 6th (with Greasy Ron)

.......Or just maybe there's more nuance to both situ's.

If Unites get less points this season it doesn't mean that Ronaldo wasn't part of the above decline.

Yeah the problem was they ran out of luck under Ole. Season before they rode on momentum and individuals were coming up with moments. It was always going to have a short shelf life because Ole had no structure. Rangnick came in and tried to change that but badly, he never seemed to have the support of the squad.

Blaming Ronaldo would be like blaming Varane for their defence falling apart last season .. yeah he was underwhelming vs expectations, but it wasn't his fault they were shit.

There's loads more. Like I just posted, their defence in 20/21 was great, Varane arrives and it's all over the place. Is it as simple as Varane is far worse than Lindelof? No. The whole structure of the team collapsed because they hit their shelf life under Ole. It would've happened with or without Ronaldo.

He joined at a terrible time, he's just no longer good enough to carry a crap team on his back.

They weren't crap because of Ronaldo. They were crap despite Ronaldo.

Yet they finished higher and scored more goals the season before, work that one out - and Utd had a better team on paper last season as well.

Bruno was worse because he thrived on being the main man at Utd, everything went through him and was one of the best players in the league in 2021/21, yet when Ronaldo turns up he turns to shit, co-incidence?

Rashford and Martial were piss poor and their games suffered, Cavani who was their best striker couldn't get a look in and his goals suffered

He also only scored 9 goals until March and hit hat tricks against us and Norwich, it's not as if he was consistent.

And then you can get into the fact that they had a non existent press and teams were playing out of the back against them too easily, wonder why...

a) many would tell you that he did just that last season.

b) has he ever genuinely done that?

They finished 2nd because everyone else was shite. Liverpool lost VVD and couldn't cope. Chelsea changed coach after a poor start. Spurs and Woolwich were gash. Leicester, West Ham were never gonna get that high up.
They were 20 odd points off the top in the end and much closer to 5th IIRC than first.
Edit: 12 points from top, 8 points from 5th. 12 points ahead of us in 7th - so same game between 1st and 2nd as 2nd and 7th

It's not that hard to work out. Team who were reliant on individuals and not an underlying structure hit their peak & fell apart. They didn't play good football in 20/21, they overachieved based on stats & then last season they unraveled.

Bruno was shit when Ronaldo was dropped, too. He had a crap season. His whole game is based on playing forward all the time, when he's on song it looks great, when he's having a bad season it's hugely frustrating.

Martial was shit at Sevilla too, he's done. Rashford has looked full on depressed for a season and a half now. Cavani was injured most of the time. Blaming any of these on Ronaldo arriving is one hell of a fucking mega stretch.

He definitely wasn't consistent. He was playing in an inconsistent team who didn't really create, and he's a striker in his mid 30's.

Blaming Ronaldo for the lack of a press is bollocks and always has been. They had no press without him either. The whole team isn't built for pressing, they have a motley crew of players, there's talent there but no structure.
