Conte would likely play 3-5-2 with Maddison rather than 3-4-3. He’d probably drop him a little deeper like he did with Eriksen at Inter. Conte actually prefers 3-5-2 but we didn’t really the personnel to play it last year. You need a better passing midfield and scoring/creative threats from your wing backs for Conte’s 3-5-2.

Perisic, Maddison, Spence, and a fully integrated Bentancur would allow us to more feasibly play 3-5-2. Any combination of Kane, Son, Richarlison, and Kulusevski can play in the two up front.

Still think we’ll play a lot of 3-4-3 just because Son, Kane, and Kulusevski are so potent up front. But I’d imagine Conte wants the versatility to change formations game to game and in game. Also as mentioned, Maddison can play in a front three if needed.
Genuine question: if Conte's preferred formation is 3-5-2, wouldn't an AM have been higher on the list than cover for the front 3 (Richarlison)?

A fair question, I guess a better way to put it is that he’s played 3-5-2 more and it’s the formation he’s known for. Only at Chelsea did he use 3-4-3, mainly because of Hazard not being able to play in a 2.

He’s also pretty flexible to be fair. He did different things with his midfield at Juventus, including playing a diamond with Pirlo, Pogba, Marchisio, and Vidal.

Like I said, I expect he’ll still prefer 3-4-3 because of our squad makeup but will want the versatility to switch to 3-5-2. Conte has also traditionally been a transfer maximalist, I don’t think he’ll be thinking that the club should have to choose between Richarlison and a capable passing midfielder who fits in a 3-5-2, he’ll want both and push for it. Also it might not be Maddison but reporters are saying we want another creative type midfielder.

Tottenham could sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta because they can offer him Champions League, according to journalist Jacque Talbot.

Antonio Conte is on the verge of securing his sixth summer arrival in right wing-back Djed Spence, but the Spurs boss is still hoping to complete further business, with the Brazilian on his list.

What’s the latest news involving Paqueta?
According to Football.London, sporting director Fabio Paratici ‘holds an interest’ in the 24-year-old, whose outstanding form since joining Lyon two years ago has allowed him to win 33 caps for Brazil.

But competition is stiff for Paqueta’s signature, with Woolwich and Newcastle both in the race for the creative midfielder.

Paqueta has caught the eye following two impressive seasons in France, but after Lyon failed to qualify for the Champions League, he has expressed his desire to leave the club.

As per Ben Jacobs, Lyon have accepted that Paqueta wants to seek pastures new and won’t stand in the way of his wishes, providing someone gets close to meeting their £55m (€65m) asking price.

And Talbot reckons Spurs being back in Europe’s elite competition could see them edge out their north London rivals, especially after missing out on Gabriel Jesus earlier this summer.

What did Talbot say about Paqueta?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “They missed out on Jesus, who went to Woolwich, so there’s that aspect of it as well. I think Spurs is very possible for Paqueta, especially because they’re in the Champions League as well, so that’s a very, very possible one.”

How did Paqueta perform last season?
Despite Lyon enduring their worst Ligue 1 campaign for more than 25 years after they finished eighth and missed out on qualifying for Europe, the midfielder enjoyed a fine season on a personal level.

Beyond Tete, who joined in January and therefore only started seven games, Paqueta was the club’s best performer, according to WhoScored.

He managed nine top-flight goals, bettered only by Moussa Dembele and Karl Toko-Ekambi, which was an impressive return for an attacking midfielder, while no one else in the Lyon squad managed more than his six assists.

Paqueta was also in the top six players for most shots, key passes and dribbles per game, proving that he’s a classy operator when it comes to final third output.

He had a similar record in his first season in France, scoring nine goals and laying on a further six assists, which means he’s already shown he can consistently perform at the top level over a long period of time.

I think the AM/CAM thing is driven almost exclusively by fans. I don't think Conte is that bothered. His system works. Titles for 2 different Italian clubs and Chelsea prove he knows what he's doing. He's played 343 a lot more often than 352.

Who actually plays 352 anyway?
More likely to see 4231, 433 and 343 these days.

Journalist Jacque Talbot.... More like Dumb Twat

Yes he is a multi role attacker who can play as a false winger like Foden or Silva but from most games I have watched him plays as an AM. So in theory could play in a 343 wide but probably best in a 352, that’s just my view from watching him quiet a lot last season.

Anyway here are articles with a lot more depth than I would ever bring. In short he is very flexible.

I keep hearing people hint that there is drama brewing at Leicester. Does anybody know what is going on there?

Maddison is overated and wouldn’t fit into our system

And he’s a rat

A rat you say? What's that all about?

Maddison, a Spurs hating Woolwich fan.

No Thanks GIF

Formation is pretty irrelevant…. Just tell Kane to drop into the hole for half hour and it’s a 352. Don’t need that mop haired fuck to change tactics

Lyon have openly stated they need to offload players as they have not qualified for CL. They've also said they need an extra midfielder.

We have consistently overpaid buying players from Lyon and other French clubs (its way less competitive than PL and players have not been able to step up) so if we do move for him I hope we aren't fool enough to pay Lyon asking price. An offer of £35m max and if they don't accept we walk away is fine by me.

I guess, Conte has said numerous times he wants Kane closer to goal.

The point isn’t necessarily related to Maddison though, just a player of his profile which we seem to be after. Could just as easily be Paqueta, Fabian Ruiz, Calhanoglu, or whoever.

I do find it a bit odd how wounded people are about a 14 year olds tweets, it’s not like Maddison was tweeting this shit yesterday.

Even if he is a Woolwich fan, which I don’t even think he really is, he’s from Coventry, Bergkamp was a Spurs fan and didn’t really lessen the blow when he was dicking us. Kane has pictures in a Woolwich kit. Who gives a fuck when they’re playing for us? He’s a damn good player who would improve us.
