On the contrary, if you believe that we made no effort to scout and recruit a high calibre RB and just said at the begining of the window "fuck it; who cares..... Let's buy a no mark" then oh dear indeed! :contefacepalm2:
Years of underachievement and incompetence in the market have naturally made me sceptical and pessimistic in my views on how we conduct our business.

So yes, I would absolutely believe that rather than try and improve the position, the powers that be vetoed such an idea, pointing to the fact we signed a new RB last summer and instead opted for the cheap punt option. It’s not as far fetched as you attempt to make out at all.

I haven’t dodged anything. I’ve answered to people who asked me. You didn’t ask me that question at any point.

I did.... As did others.... Some before you even had your whinge about getting disagrees......

I see you have only now addressed it..... 'Well done'....

Also, I’m absolutely praying that Lenglet becomes the new Vertonghen, Spence becomes the new Walker, Richarlison is finally the backup striker we’ve always wanted. I’ll be here swallowing my humble pie happily if they are.

LOL. Like fuck you will.... You'll just be sat in the shadows until you next feel you've got a chink of an opportunity to deride our efforts and roll out a few cliches about "ambition".

You on the other hand will still be here with your stupid outlandish excuses should they fail.

There you go again... Drooling over failure.

Did Romero, Kulu & Bentancur fail to propel us to the CL?`

No... But you can't help yourself can you......

.......Is Parratici revamping our entire footballing ops? (Yes.)

Have Conte and Parratici done a cracking job getting the 'ship' back on course since they arrived?

Unless you don't concur, how about you show a little due optimism?

Okay, you surely will agree that RWB was one of, if not the weakest position in the team last season. So surely you cannot be fully satisfied with our effort to address this issue, by signing a Championship right back that our manager has immediately distanced himself from and has said was a player the club wanted not him.

A club with real ambition and genuinely trying to improve the team would have went and pushed Barca for Sergino Dest, or pushed Sporting for Pedro Porro, pushed Udinese for Molina. Etc etc.
There is absolutely no way we couldn’t have signed a better RWB this summer than what we already have.

If Conte thought that RWB was a key position or the weakest as you put it Conte would have pushed for a) an early replacement b) A replacement of high quality. We wouldn't be spending literally all Summer chasing Spence unless he was happy about it, look at the speed (of the conclusion of the other transfers) and quality of them for example.

If Conte thought wanted the players you mentioned then we would have a) initially been linked to them and b) we would have pushed for them and probably got them as they're more than attainable, the fact is neither of these things have happened which suggests that he's more than happy with Spence

I've seen loads of Spurs fans do this, they twist his comments based on whatever narrative they want to believe, in fact we all do it to a certain extent but trying to make sense of his latest comments and based on what's happened this Summer and the evidence put forward to say that he didn't want Spence or not happy with the transfer is just a reach and some desperate confirmation bias about how the club haven't fully backed him, it's nonsense.

"Scepticism" is one thing.... "Absolute belief" is quite another.

I'm out.

It’s not a shit RB market if you actually go out and try and be ambitious and go and try and get a better right back than we already have.

Also my disappearing routine will be nothing compared to yours should our old failings in the transfer window come back to haunt us again this season, ‘Fixxy :sonpoint:
Who?

You have the budget, so who do you go and get that demonstrates this "ambition" you like to peddle out?

Maddison makes more sense than Zaniolo. Unless conte sees Zaniolo has a guy he could mould to become a mezalla or box to box. At the moment the only position Zaniolo would suit in our formation would be where Kulusevski plays. It would give us tremendous dept but that seems overkill for us. Zaniolo ain’t an organiser and thinker like Maddison. Zaniolo takes the ball and runs past players until he shoots or is fooled.

Sergino Dest. Pedro Porro. Nahuel Molina.

That’s only 3, but I’m not a pro scout. If you genuinely believe Paratici and co couldn’t find a better RWB in world football than Emerson and Matty Doherty, then deary me we are in bother.
None of the three are home grown so it only adds to our log-jam.
Sporting have literally just taken up the option on Porro and there’s no way they would sell so we would have to activate the 40m or so release clause IF the player was interested in a move (and there’s nothing to suggest he is — the latest interview I read with him suggests he’s very happy where he is.

Dest is Emerson mark 2. Another overpriced, overhyped Barca player that’s made them mediocre.

I don’t know enough about Molina to comment.

Dest has been quite poor for Barca. Molina has serious question marks over his defensive ability.

Pedro Porro I have heard great things about, but his attacking stats as RWB for Sporting were actually worse than Doherty for us last season. Also transition from Portuguese league to PL not that easy.

Pedro Porro is astronomically clear of any wingback we have. The guy is a much bigger threat than Doherty, trust me 😂

Fine, I trust Nabil Bentaleb Nabil Bentaleb on Portuguese issues and he’s said similar.
Not watched Pedro Porro outside CL.

But, stats:
Doherty 2 goals 4 assists in 9 league starts
Porro 4 goals 4 assists in 19 league starts

Porro may well be better but let’s not make assumptions.

Ill refrain from posting stuff from over there, it was meant purely for jokes and amusement as it always is, yet some on here think its a cart blanche for releasing & unloading all of their repressed anger issues on the poster (only replying to your post , not directing that at you per se  )
I wouldn't worry mate, we've got 1424 pages full of shite, we've got god knows how many pages of absolutely fucking hilarious Djed Spence jokes. If you want to post what them nonces are spouting over at SC, you go ahead.

Think Conte’s comments on Spence are multi layered.

He agreed it. No doubt after assurance this wouldn’t affect the overall budget.

It might be he has very high hopes for the lad, but with history of “big bollocks” maybe Conte is letting him know he’s here as a junior?

Makes utter sense to me, get him hungry, keep that ego in check.

The fee is not much more than Clark and CCV together, so Conte must be intrigued and I believe has faith in Doherty as his senior. He has a few weeks to stake claim for a squad place over Doherty or Emerson, if he does one will go.

Porro is pretty good for the Portuguese league but at the moment I think that’s it. Last season he had problems with injuries.

Hmmmmm..... And which one's playing in the far tougher league?

Sounds like spence is quite cocky so not surprised Conte is putting him in his place

Looks as well, not just sounds.

He’s a current England U21, was in Championship team if the season, bossed Woolwich.

Overall, you must have a negative outlook (not you) not to see this as super hopeful, we just signed a first team HG RWB with Goals and Assist, forward running and dribbling ability, for £12.5m!

If he clicks he’s worth £40m by Christmas. Think he will personally, after maybe a few months learning from Conte n team.
