He's afraid of a bit of competition also he like to be the ' star ' , the main man, he wants all the attention and on top i doubt he is up for Conte hard work ethic ... The guy has talent for sure however from history it seems it wouldnt be too long before he would clash heads with Conte and that never ends well for the player, only one winner in that predicament and that will be Conte.

Also Van gaal has been pretty open with his dutch players, if you aint playing then your WC spot would be in jeopardy , he scuppered the united deal for that defender timber iirc.

I think they're both on a similar level, personally. They're good players with big egos but maybe not good enough to back up that ego if they step up a level. I think Maddison's style is more balanced though, Grealish is all about the 'give me the ball and let me dribble' which suits a Villa but less so a City.

I do think people underrate how good Grealish was in that final Villa season. Everything went through him, he was creating chances left, right & centre for them. It's just whether he was simply a big fish in a small pond or not.
It defo helped that the team was built around grealish to do his thing too, which brought out the best of him and all aspects of his game, at city that was never going to be the case, but defo a good player in him

They're a special case in terms of sheer farming of players, but Chelsea have some pretty stark examples:

But yeah, I'd argue that if one wants the player to beef up for PL action, it doesn't feel like the best idea.

Yep forgot about those two, I guess I was thinking for examples of more regular players not the top top world class types.

But yes they are clearly foreign loan success stories but ended up leaving their original club so not the best example of non UK loan success stories!

Several clubs have not taken unvaccinated players on pre season international tours this year, because like or not, countries have strict quarantine rules.
This has a commercial impact on the clubs and the viability of lucrative tours . Not surprising if clubs factor this in when spending tens of millions on players and their wages.

Fuck this commercial impact...

Instead imagine us getting to CL semifinal, first leg in Italy and suddenly if Son, Lloris, Dier and Bissouma would be unvaxxed and could not travel due to local rules ?!?!?!

To the next person who mentions COVID or VACCINATIONS in the fucking transfer thread:

Now Skriniar defitely staying at Inter they will need to sell one or two other players.

Hopefully we follow multiple targets at other clubs but wouldn't rule out the possibility of an Inter player suddenly coming our way

Everton were saying weeks ago they were going to give Anthony Gordon a new contract, alongside the number 10 shirt after Newcastle made a bid for him.

No contract announcement yet and wonder if there are issues - MLS Minnesota beat Everton 4-0 (2nd preseason loss I believe) and several Everton media outlets running articles about players needing to play for and respect the shirt etc suggest Everton is not a happy place to be at the moment. Wonder if Gordon might be more open to a move now (not that he wasn't before, but Everton said no - if he doesn't sign a new contract though .....)

He might not sign a new deal which leaves the way clear for us to make a bid.
