Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We're a week away from the new season and Leicester have spent the summer planning for a season with Maddison in their team. They won't have done any of the planning and due diligence necessary for the departure and replacement of their key player.

If Maddison had been making noises about wanting to leave all through last season and Leicester had gone into the summer window expecting him to leave, they would have hopefully been better prepared and have had a clear vision of how the money would be spent but as far as I know that wasn't the case and they'll just have £60m burning a hole in their pocket.
Contract expires 2024 and no noise on extending. Leicester need cash as loads of contracts up next year and the year after that 60m may be needed.

Tielemans contract expires 2023 (ie one year left) and half a dozen players who I'd suggest are key players, including Maddison, have contracts expiring in 2023.

To be fair, although Spurs are better at not allowing players contracts to get too short Kane, Dier, Sanchez, Devine and Austin contracts expire in 2024 - as do a few older layers such as Lloris, Persic and Moura who we would need to replace if they do in fact retire.

Out of our list Dier is the one that surprises me. (kane won't sign until he sees where we are as he believed he was screwed with Levy "gentleman agreement")

not if Maddsion states he doesn't want to go to Newcastle.

Tbh bidding wars are a myth and rarely actually happen. The interested clubs will usually finsd out almost immediately what club the player wants to go to and usually drop out.
It's a case of "watch this space"....still a month left. I do have the feeling that there are no more major purchases in the pipeline....Maybe a couple of cheap punts but that's it.

That's right.

If Maddison simply says he wants CL football the Newcastle door closes shut.

If Maddison knew we were really interested he could force this quite easily.

Ye jest, you seriously think that a PL team has no plans for transfers incoming or outgoing?

"They won't have done any of the planning and due diligence necessary"

How the fuck do you know what planning they have done?

Levy is well known for last days of the transfer window deals, where were your posts then about "we are in a week away from a new season" and "due diligence" bull.

Comedy Gold mate, you should be rubbing shoulders with Gervais.

I’m not too sure about Zaniolo today was his audition and he failed miserably against Sanchez on the left who in all honesty has been shocking all preseason on the left of three. I’m always open to being proved wrong and I accept it was his first time playing with Dybala but that does concern me even more because he should be setting the example for the new player to show him the standard of the team. At this point I’d take Maddison in a heartbeat again I accept I could be wrong but the impression I was left with today made me think he’s a massive gamble.

We didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory did we?

Pre-season is not about performance as much as about fitness, and you looked at a player for ninety minutes, in a meaningless friendly.

I mean do you think we will play like we did against Roma next weekend against Saints?

I believe we beat Roma something like 5-0 under Ramos in a pre season friendly and them went on to get two points from eight games.

As Redknapp will tell you.

Zaniolo is a very good player and would certainly give is cover for Kulu.

The best teams in the world can struggle with it.
We created 10 chances yesterday. It's not a creative midfielder we need, it's a sharper front 3. That'll come as the season wears on.

I think we were the second highest goal scorers after City from January onwards last season.

Breaking down team who defend in numbers is difficult for any team (as Klopp said about us last season). We have the finishing in this team we just lack creativity to break teams down, we miss a Modric, Maddison, or Zaniolo?

Forget about yesterdays game, neither team covered themselves in glory, it was a last match fitness tun up.

Zaniolo will make as big an impact as Kulu has, and it's a position that we desperately need.

Which? It's not like these 3 are the same kind of player.
